giwrgos_ath
He posted a video on youtube. For some reason your browser does not display it. try this instead. ( )
ferretfloozy
the fella from glasstecautomotive seems to know what he's talking about ..he says its because they have been incorrectly clipped under the scuttle allowing the feed wire to foul on the wiper (the pics are from his facebook link)
giwrgos_ath
He doesn't mention however if there is anything that can be done to fix the issue without replacing the windscreen. Nor he mentions of any fix to avoid that in the future... Is this a RHD issue only?
ferretfloozy
as far as a repair is concerned that would depend on where the ribbon cable is torn .im sure if you were able to bridge the break and insulate it afterwards it would work fine.if its too close to the screen then all is lost .. as for avoiding future problems ..he says ..make sure its correctly clipped ( as per photo)..maybe because earlier models had a single element and not a dual heating ( smart charge etc) they never suffered from this .. his point is that its not a design fault but bad installation but as you say a repair kit from ford would be nice .( thin metal wrap with insulated cover)..they obviously are aware of the problem
JW1982
Is this a RHD issue only? This also happens on LHD cars.
artscot79
the above video is not a common issue ive looked at a few including my own and they are clipped in from the factory well out of the way of any wipers etc it may be possible some at certain factories werent or someones had the panel off and dislodged them but on mine the whole wiring is way out the way
cuke
2005 Mk3? Obviously a typo somewhere...
Swiftfocus69
Cuke , Getting to be a real bug bear of mine .Lots of people class the facelifted models as a new Mk . So the new and latest shape would be a Mk 5 in some peoples eyes .Really annoying when trying to hunt out specific mod`s or problems with your own car.
