Vin Question

Hi

Inputting my Vin number in to Ford ETAS gave some strange results one of which was a registration number J100151 which is not the registration of the Vehicle I own. Also mentioned the registration date as being 05 but the vehicle was registered in 06. Should I be concerned or is this normal with the ETAS site ?

Thanks

Ian

Maybe it had a private plate on it

J100151 is not a reg number as it would have to be 3 letters, J100 ABC for example. Maybe your car has had a private plate on it at some point and then put back on an age related plate rather than the original. Does it bring the right model car up though apart from the other details being wrong?

Bought the Car in Glasgow couple of weeks ago when I did the Insurance with the reg came up as 100 Bhp

When i put the Vin in etas comes up as a 115bhp but seems to show the right color and spec. yes it shows 3 cars on that J100 plate but only one matches the Vin number.I remember years ago reading about the jersey plates where Ford were selling them to Car Hire companies. That may be where it's from has a very low mileage for year 58000 Car seems in good condition drives well

As it's 8 years coming on to 9 years would it be a disable to change the Timing Belt for peace of mind even though the mileage is low ?

Thanks

Ian

On the Focus MK2/MK2.5 1.4/1.6 Duratec Petrol engine the timing belt must be changed every 8 years or 100.000 Miles.

On these engines Ford reduced the interval from 10 Years to 8 Years because of too much timing belt failures.

Based on the age of the car the timing belt should already have been changed. If not you should change it now.

My 1.6 cmax timing belt schedule was 8yrs/100,000 miles so i personally would get it done due to its age.
