Ford Sync - Bluetooth Issue

Hi guys, sorry if this has been posted before...I have had a good Google session but not really found much information.

I have a 2013 Ford Focus Titanium which I paid extra for the Sony DAB and Sync upgrade. Works really nicely apart from something really annoying....

...If I bluetooth music from my phone to the car I do not get song information just "Playing From bluetooth Device". No other car has this issue. I spoke to the garage at the time and they told me that I'll be able to update the system using USB soon, but 2 years later I still cannot get an update.

Now normally I would put this down to system limitations, however my colleagues 2013 Fiesta with identical Sony headunit DOES transfer id3 tags and track info. And then yesterday I met a guy with a 2013 Focus with the basic stereo (not the Sony) and again HIS DOES!

Anyone ever get this fixed or managed to update anything?

Thanks in advance

Mike

PS. My phone(s) have all been iPhones if that helps. USB always displays track info

Hi mate,

Do your colleague and this other guy have iPhones too? From what I remember it depended on the bluetooth profile used by the phone. I remember my Nexus 4 just flat out didn't work, but my Samsung worked perfectly. Can't remember if my iPhone worked as I always used the cable.

Also, on your iPhone, if you swipe up from the bottom to get the system menu there's an icon like a box with a triangle in it. If you click that you can select other sources to send your audio through. I found that I had 2 sources for my Sync. Maybe try that and try using the other source if you have one.

If that doesn't work, let us know Phone model (iPhone 5S, 6 etc), iOS version, music App being used etc and I'll see what I can find out.

Hi Largoh

Thanks for replying buddy! Yes, everyone else who has this working in their cars have iPhones also. To answer your questions:

1) The triangle icon (it's the same as the AirPlay one?) only ever shows SYNC or iPhone (or USB if that's connected)

2) When I bought the car i had iPhone 4S, then upgraded to 5S and just last week got 6S. Same issue with all three phones

I have spoken to my dealer who said they can update the software if it is available (they didn't know) and there was no guarantee that it would work even if it was available. This would cost £90+VAT!!!
