Liam40
Hi All, I remember seeing a post about problems with a split degas hose on the Focus 1.0l EcoBoost 125 engines, but I can’t find it anywhere. Because I can’t, I wonder if you could help me with a query. I have a Focus 1.0l EcoBoost 125 which was registered in 2016 and I think manufactured in 2016 as well. Does my Focus have the type of degas hose that caused overheating which caused the splitting of the degas hose.? Can anyone tell me what I’m looking for under the bonnet please. Thank you, Liam. JW1982
The affected degas hose was made of plastic and vulcanised rubber. This type of degas hose was only installed on Focus MK3 vehicles with 1.0 ECOboost engine that were built between 25-04-2012 and 05-05-2014. Vehicles produced before and after these production period did have a different type of degas hose and are not affected by the recall. During the recall the affected degas hose was replaced by a revised more durable version. This revised type of degas hose replaces all other versions (both affecten and non affected by the recall) of the degas hose that were used on Focus MK3 vehicles with 1.0 ECOboost engine. When ordering a new degas hose you always receive the latest available version. Older versions of the degas hose are no longer available. The degas hose recall and problems did only apply on Focus MK3 vehicles with 1.0 ECOboost engine. Focus MK3.5 vehicles with 1.0 ECOboost engine do have completely different coolant hoseswith a different routing and design.

JW1982
I have never seen or heard of any problems with the coolant hoses (including the degas hose) of the Focus MK3.5 vehicles with 1.0 ECOboost engine. From this point of view you should be fine. The coolant reservoir however can develop (micro)cracks which eventually causes the reservoir to burst. It is highly recommended to inspect the reservoir (including the bottom) regularly. In case of (micro)cracks the reservoir should be replaced.
