Haynes Manual

Good morning

I'm  a new member so I hope I won't break any house rules!

I live in France and have my parents visiting in their Ford Focus automatic.  They JUST managed to get here as they had problems with the automatic transmission.  It looks like they had a leak from the box somewhere (I think a drive-shaft seal...) and the box has started slipping etc.  The box was driven dry for quite a few miles so I am expecting the worst!!

Anyway, if ANYONE could send me some information from a repair manual on how to change the box would be much appreciated.  I am going to take off the sump pan and do a visual check and cleanup of metal bits if necessary! Put a few litres of oil in there and see if it can be left in the car.  If not the box will need to be replaced so the instructions for that would be great (if possible.?).

Last question(s) I promise!  I have found a replacement box but the number is 3s4p-7000-ba but the box in the car is 5s4p-7000-ba.  What is the difference?  Are they interchangeable?

Thanks in advance for ANY help advice etc

Andy

What year/engine etc?

Good question!  Sorry for not mentioning that on the OP.

The Focus is a 56 plate (late 2006?) and is a 1.6 petrol engine.  100bhp.

Thanks again in advance.
