A right way to fit Focus MK2.5 (2013) wipers?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I just fitted some new Halfords wipers on my Focus MK2.5 (2013) which helpfully didn't come with any instructions on how to fit them.
I've had the same with some Bosch wipers that these were replacing - it was just a cardboard box with the wipers clipped together inside.

However, a thought occurred to me that both wipers seem to have universal fitting - i.e. it doesn't matter which wiper you fit to which side (drivers or passenger). And, as they're the same length there's no drawback.

So, my question is...is there a correct way around to fit the wipers?
Surely if you can fit them either way around you could simply swap them over if you find one of them is a little worn and prolong the life of them?

Probably a stupid question but just thought I'd ask since there didn't seem to be anything obvious telling me which is driver's and which is the passenger's side.

Thanks in advance!

If you look at the wipers there maybe a curve in the metal, like a spoiler effect. This is essentially wind deflection. The bottom off curve (wiper end) goes towards bottom of windscreen...hope that makes some sense.

Would your car not be a mk3?
That version started in 2011.

Good point! If it is a Mk3, both wipers would be the same length of 29", whereas the Mk 2 has 26" (Driver) and a 17" (Passenger). Surely the biggest clue would have been to check against what was already fitted to the car?

MK3 couldn't be any easier.
