I do like getting the all clear from the doctor further to a cancer scare.  Still got lots of problems in my life but at least now I've (hopefully) got a lot of time to deal with them.

  • I do like finally finishing a model kit I first started 5 and a half years ago.  It's a very special model that i was supposed to finish by the time the aircraft took her final flights across the UK

@Lenny I read your whole story and found it very touching 👍. I'd say I'm going through the same thing in terms of socialling with friends. It's not my parents that stop me from going out it's just the type of friends I have. In uni at the moment my friends aren't the type to invite each other to our houses or go out. In college the girls which were in my class arranged a day out with them and the guys. Went out once to bowling then the year after we tried arranging another day out to golf but sadly some of them were busy so cancelled it. Secondary school had friends but again didn't go out with them. I did find secondary school the worst. When there would be tasks to pair up with someone or group up most of the time I'd be left out. I'd say I was kind of popular in the year as I made friends with just about everyone excluding the people who really caused trouble. The only thing was I didn't have close friends. Because of this I don't really socialise outside school but also I've noticed I just feel happy sitting at home doing my studies and going on my PS4. I have noticed I don't like going on social media as i start to compare myself with my friends. People like to post good things they've done or post pictures of where they went with their friends which I wouldn't like to see. Even with the girl I liked she had a close friend which I didn't really like as she kind of was overpossesive with her but I did go on her good side 🤣. College and uni is better as people were all keen to work together. There was still some of those people who mess about and later leave. I honestly don't get these people in uni and how they put themselves in debt and either retake modules from the previous year or leave. I've had a few friends now who either left uni as they failed or are retaking the previous year. Just a few months to go before I finish my final year.

I'm gonna search up that bird house whatever it's called on Netflix. Will ask my cousin to put his account in on my TV. I have a feeling its not a David Attenborough animal documentary 😂. If Netflix doesn't store history possibly I'd watch it but I do want to watch the Friday the 13th movies.

On a good note my dad fitted his underseat sub in my car. Bolted it through the floor. His current car doesn't have space under the seat so he bought a bass box to put in the boot. Fitted perfectly in the space without compromising space for the rear floor mat. He did have an issue for the remote to work as he cut the wire for it back when he was fitting it in his previous car but luckily he fixed it. Did a little test and felt the seat vibrate with the bass 😂

Also fitted a switch on the side of the centre console for the dash cam so I can use that instead of plugging and unplugging the switch from the camera.

It's being fitted under passenger seat? If you have a misses or just a lady friend turn that bass up and she will love you long time haha.

Dj snake, turn down for what pops into mind. Or twista k like a 24

@martyntdci yep fitted under the passenger seat. Luckily just tucks under the seat rails. Lol that's a good track. First though I need to properly listen to it when I get the car out the garage and drive around.

I've just noticed, you don't have a air vent. I like to listen to a track by bass tronics when I'm setting up. You can pee people of by listening to happy hardcore, heart of gold is a old favourite of mine.

I sing all kinds mate and generally opt for songs to suit the age of the people in the pub. Yes, I do take it too seriously lol. Its weird because I don't like being the centre of attention otherwise but I just love getting up on stage to sing.

When you planning on upgrading? Is the DPF alright in the golf?

Won't be upgrading any time soon, the next car will probably be a further downgrade (in terms of power and MPG at least) but still struggling to find an equivalent petrol that I can afford to both buy AND run (easy to find one or the other lol) so I'm stuck with the Golf atm...it was only meant to last a couple of months, had it 6 months now lol, that's longer than some of my long term cars!  The DPF isn't coping well at all, the oil level is well over max due to all the failed DPF regens so it's a constant worry waiting for the engine to runaway now.  Not much point wasting money on a oil change with the rate the diesel fills it up atm.  It's also out of TBM warranty so I'd have to pay for anything that did break now.  Plus there's a really awful intermittent judder when trying to accelerate cold, no fault codes though and I can't find the issue at all, likely to be the EGR I reckon but can't afford/justify repairs when the car is worth so little and I need to change it for a petrol anyway.  Fortunately at the moment it drives alright for the rest of the day, just the first 5-10 minutes that it randomly judders, but is pretty much every day since the colder weather.

Decided against spending the inheritance on a car for how little I drive so the budget is now around £6k, needs to be Focus/Golf sized, £30 tax, 50mpg and decent spec (auto lights and wipers, cruise and climate at the very least).  Finding a diesel to fit that is easy, finding a petrol to fit that is pretty much impossible.  Have gone off the Mk3.5 Focus tbh,  prices are still far too high and I'm seeing more and more issues with them as they age, plus I can't have the appearance pack wheels that I like as the ride comfort is compromised too much for my stomach issues.   First world problems lol.

I do like making some progress on the house today, managed to pick up a 34 Litre HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) keg from a local market boot sale,

I work in the pharmaceutical industry six days per week but the individual I bought this chemical drum from shall we say; can obtain them with a lot less paper work than i can 😂 perhaps he never went to school I don't know but I'm glad to have gotten one for home use,

All he said was €15 Boss ☺

The reason I needed a drum this size or even why I needed a drum at all is because well here's my attic space:

20190106_134244.thumb.jpg.75a7b0f273cfd05417e6bde469c5a6ab.jpg

The water tank is right in the middle of the Apex attic space, I plan to relocate this tank over to the corner next to the neighbouring block wall have it facing towards me here; to provide more open space in the attic which i will then sheet the beams with plywood,

20190106_134022.thumb.jpg.c59ecce93a7412caddac86fa8398efdd.jpg

My dad is good at a bit of plumbing, so he's coming down the end of January to relocate the water tank,

Now; The plastic drum is going to be used as a bund for the little red expansion tank saw here:

20190106_134028.thumb.jpg.b5c1db4447853aab2b6fc997bdf1eef9.jpg

The red tank will fit inside the white plastic drum, I'm then going to fit a pipe to the bottom side of the plastic drum and connect it to the overflow pipe of the water tank,

This way if the red expansion tank ever leaks; instead of leaking down through the plasterboard ceiling it will leak in to the white plastic drum and flow out through the overflow pipe to outside

20190106_135901.thumb.jpg.8923b46f1e0a881de7336ab44798a62d.jpg

The purpose of the little red expansion tank is to allow for expansion of water in the heating system which circulates around the radiators; there's like a balloon inside expands when the water is hot.

They can eventually deteriorate and leak which would cause a mess inside the ceiling if not bund.

smart idea stop damage to the plaster board

Lenny, I think maybe another drum too (blue maybe?) around the white one which is around the red one just in case the red expansion vessel leaks into the white one and then the white one overflows due to a blocked/frozen overflow pipe. But then though is it worth putting a green one around the blue one around the white one around the red one just for a belt and braces approach because you can never be too careful.😂

What about the older diesel focuses? Did they come without a DPF like on the mk6 fiestas? The 1.8 TDCI Id stay away from as that looks to be common on the focus section of having problems. My dad had a mk1 focus with that engine and he had problems with it. There would be times the engine would cut out I think when he'd release the clutch which put him off manuals and he ended up getting an auto next.

Was thinking of the Peugeot 107 but the ride might not be good.

Flat roof inside... done 😂

Chances are: when expansion tank leaks it's under pressure from hot water, so if overflow pipe was frozen the leaking hot water would defrost it,🖕😆
