  • The cause could be one of a thousand things. You need to read the DTC's with a good scanner or better still use Forscan. Download Forscan on to a laptop - https://forscan.org/download.html

The cause could be one of a thousand things. You need to read the DTC's with a good scanner or better still use Forscan.

Download Forscan on to a laptop - https://forscan.org/download.html

You will need an ELM327 lead to be able to connect the laptop to your OBDII port

Recommended for use with Forscan is the lead from Tunnelrat Electronics - https://tunnelrat-electronics.fwscart.com/USB_Modified_with_switch_ELM327/p4541936_17045457.aspx

Thanks would be about time I ordered a code reader since they are more complicated to track down now. I did see posts saying it's common to be the fuel filter but wanted a second opinion.

I spent a lot of money on a code reader and since I downloaded Forscan to my laptop I've never used my Foxwell Scanner again.

I ordered the tunnelrat. It will hopefully track this down but will probs get it on Tuesday as the order will be processed tomorrow. The car will be like a milk float in the time being 😂

Got to turn up tomoz as its first class. Had a look for the port and was like where the **** is it until I realised you have you squeeze the bit that comes out to reveal it 🤣

Ok here is the codes. I followed This post but can't locate the pipe they are talking about.

If your tool is able you need to re learn the turbo variable vane values, clear the codes and road test it. Usually 9/10 it stops this issue

How do you do that?

Have a look in Service Procedures. If FORScan can do it for that car it will be in there.

Thanks do you think it will help?

If Luke says there is a very good chance it will work then I wouldn't doubt him and it wouldn't do any harm even if it didn't solve the problem.

I'm not sure if that particular Service Procedure will be there or not though.

Done it and cleared the codes and tested it and got the surge feeling again and the code came back.

Try it once more, I've had a few vehicles need it doing more than once

Hi Ian, are you using Forscan with the hard wired ELM327 lead, it's just I don't recognise the screen shots ?

As well as clearing the codes you also need to

which means that you have to clear/reset the values stored, to force the car to re-learn. Just clearing the DTC's will not fix the problem.

So the above was wrong? Also I didn't just clear codes I reset the Turbo charger variable vane position sensor adaptation. It is the Android version as my laptop is broken. This is the options available.

Hello Ian, I'd not seen the andriod version of Forscan before. As long as you reset and cleared everything you should be good to go. Give it a couple more tries before looking for other problems.

If you are connected by Bluetooth/wifi then most programming functions will not be allowed by Forscan, but the reading and resetting of DTC's and similar will work.

Thanks will do but working ATM so have to wait till after 4. I was surprised on what was available in that version. I will get wired soon once my laptop is fixed for more options.

For info, you don't need a wired adaptor to use the Windows version, as long as your Laptop has Bluetooth and or Wi-fi depending on what Adaptor you have.

It is not advisable to do Programming with a wireless adaptor unless it is a OBDLINK MX, even then changing a setting should  work ok but trying anything more serious could brick your car.

The only difference between the versions is that you can't do programming with the phone version, there may be a tiny amount of serious Service Procedures not available although I have never come across any and the very useful Output Control Mode is is only on the Windows version but it can be used with a wireless adaptor.

Personally I find the phone version much more convenient to use and only use the Windows version with my wireless adaptor for Output Control Mode and DPF Regens because they can take some time and my phone may die before they are finished.

Thanks for that great info 😁 Yes I was surprised when I found the Android version and it is indeed very handy and the code reader is so small it fits in the holder where the port is located.

Done it 4 times now and it still comes back after all cleared. I can feel boost at first then a slight jerk and the error comes back on 😕

  • Author

Anyone any ideas on what I can check out next?

  • Author

Guess I will have to check all boost pipes and get the under cover off and check the state of the turbo.

Sorry to hear you still have problems. Yes it is likely that one of the rubber boost pipes has split or come off. From what you have said the good thing is that it doesn't sound like it will be a major failure.

Good luck with your hunt to find the problem
