Car cutting out whilst driving

I have an intermitent fault on my 2006 focus TCDi. It often cuts out when I go to put in reverse gear, and often cuts out when I'm driving along. I have had the fuel valve pressure regulator control valve changed, which hasn't made any difference. Any ideas on what this could be would be great. Thanks Sharon

Well you have come to the right place if it's an answer from 'Guess Olympics' you're after.

If you want to perhaps stand a chance of a more accurate answer then download FORScan on a laptop and have a check for any Ford specific DTC's on your car. One quick question, does the instrument cluster seem to behave correctly or do you get random warnings from time to time?

Download FORScan (free for laptop use): https://forscan.org/download.html

The instument panel seems ok, no warning lights.
