Melvyn
Thanks unofix - I've downloaded that file and the accompanying instructions and I'll give it a go. Predictably, the customer services rep told me she'd spoken to the technical team and they claimed can't do anything unless I can supply a log file. She suggested I try installing the updates again - and if I have problems, contact the dealer (which I've already explained would be a complete waste of time as they've already said they don't know what to do). I went onto the Ford UK Facebook page earlier and posted a condensed version of the problems I've had - a (probably vain) attempt to get someone at Ford to actually do something other than shrug their shoulders and bleat they can't help me unless I supply a log file.
Melvyn
Quick update ..for anyone interested 🙂 I've managed to create a log file using the interrogation utility from the link unofix kindly supplied (see bottom of page 1 of this thread). Normally you would be expected to upload the log file yourself. But given my ongoing conversation with a Ford customer services rep about problems with applying map updates, she'll be forwarding the log file to the technical team and they'll report back on the status of my updates. Also - I think unconnected but you never know - I noticed the 'last updated' date on my sync system has finally been changed to 17th Mar (rather than 3rd March which it was displaying before). Melvyn
Thought I'd let you know this is still rumbling on .. I supplied the log file to the customer services rep who tells me she has passed it on to the 'technical team' who are apparently investigating. I'm supposed to get an update tomorrow on what they have found re the status of my maps updates. I've also asked (a) how often the website gets updated (as some of you have reported delays of months before the website reflects the status (b) what the mechanism is for the website being updated via wifi as there is no mention of a log file being created (as happens with usb updates). Incidentally, I drove through the junction last week which set me off on the path of updating my maps. My post from the beginning of March was wrong. The maps show a dual-carriageway and it is actually a roundabout. If Ford tell me my maps are up-to-date, it means whoever supplies the maps to Ford needs to be informed there are some changes required. jsk
Hi Melvyn I am on the same path as you with the same problem. The week before last I contacted Ford support filled in there request with numerous information question on car and myself, suprised they didn't want my inside leg measurement. All this I sent off along with my log file. I received an email saying I would be contacted last Wednesday PM. Needless to say I wasn't. Replied to their email last Friday asking why I was not contacted and got a reply saying tech support had all my information and I would be contacted today PM. Time now 16:00 and still nothing. As my car is only 3 months old with another big problem I am thinking of going down the route of rejecting the car. Will let you know if Ford support ever get back to me. ford focus 155 active
If you have a pendrive usb 3.1 or newer the amount of time needed is around 45/50 min for f11 maps. I just updated them last Saturday
alexp999
The USB ports are only USB 2.0. It's just that the NAND in a USB 3.x drive is typically faster, so you can max out the 2.0 interface (About 33 MB/s) Technically a very fast USB 2.0 drive would be the same, but most manufacturers cheap out and buying a USB 3.x drive is the only way to get faster read/write.

Melvyn
Progress at long last! I have been in regular contact with a Ford CX (customer experience) rep who has been my route to getting Ford technical and engineering people involved. After a long delay, they told her to tell me they had sorted things out and everything was up to date. With bated breath, I logged on to the Ford website and it informed me there was a maps update required. I thought it would be the same as before (22Gb). But I shouldn't have been so cynical - it was just a small (52Kb) map update which I installed a short while ago using a usb memory stick and I have uploaded the resulting installation log file as per the instructions on the Ford website. I've emailed the Ford CX rep and asked her .. (a) how often are these log files processed (pointing out some customers (ie. your good selves) have reported delays of weeks and months before this has been done) (b) what is the mechanism when updates are done via wifi - does a log file get automatically created and uploaded (not found this described anywhere (c) I also asked who supplies the maps to Ford. There is a nearby road junction that is not correct (shows traffic lights but is actually a roundabout) and I want to advise the map suppliers they need to correct their maps. Melvyn
Well, shock horror - Ford have finally sorted out my Sync/maps update which I first posted about at the beginning of March .. The map update I mentioned above didn't actually work successfully. After a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, it appeared to be some sort of interrogation file. I was in a situation where the customer services had to speak to the technical and engineering teams because they said everything was up to date (sync & maps). But the website still showed there were some outstanding updates. The techie teams (whoever they are!) have finally 'tweaked' my vehicles info on their database so that now, when I log on, it shows everything up to date. The customer services rep will probably be relieved when I tell her things are finally sorted. But I'll give her some more work to do by suggesting they compensate me for all the time I've wasted and the hassle I've had, by giving me several year's free subscription to the Ford Pass Connect Live Traffic service. jsk
Still waiting for mine to be fixed from reporting it in March. Had email yesterday from Kcrc saying techies have not got back to them yet. Hopefully mine might be fix next month then. Not holding my breath though. Car into dealer at the end of the month for another problem but will ask them to look at my Sync problem at the same time but don't think they will come up with a cure. jsk
I don't believe it. Just been onto the Sync update site and it is showing I am up to date. Sound like Ford have got round to sorting the site out.

I'd asked for several year's worth of 'live traffic' subscription by way of compensation but in the event, I was offered a £250 amazon voucher. This was totally unexpected (I thought asking for the 'live traffic' freebie was likely to be viewed as a bit cheeky and likely to be ignored). Needless to say, I accepted the offer and my amazon account is looking very healthy as a result. All I need to do now is decide what to spend it on. So my persistence paid off in the end ..
