alanfp
I've noticed in the last week that there is only 1p/litre difference in diesel and petrol prices at my local petrol station (拢1.44 and 拢1.45) Does anyone know why the difference has reduced so much, so quickly?聽 Petrol used to be 10% cheaper until very recently. TomsFocus
45mpg is about 10 miles per litre so makes for easy mental calculation. It's about 13p per mile atm.

Glad I spent a decade in diesels.聽 Never would have happened if I'd listened to older relatives.聽 Hate to think how much more I'd have spent in petrol over that decade. 馃槷 Still remember the first time I drove a decent diesel...instant torque and a huge power band from VNT boost.聽 And easy 55-60mpg over a tank.聽 And cheaper road tax.聽 And no need to use the throttle for slow manoeuvre or the handbrake for hill starts.聽 Didn't miss the hassle of the old NA petrol doing 35mpg at all! It was a lovely old beast. all the things you said, and of course, being a 'company' car I never actually paid for a penny of fuel myself. I even remember having to wait for the glow light to extinguish from the dash before starting her up LOL
