withaplomb
Anyone seen this? http://www.ford.co.uk/Cars/Fiesta/S1600 Looks like Ford are releasing a new S1600 with an extra 14bhp, no mention of price though. Anyone know what they've modified from the standard 1.6?
Stanhead
Someone made a thread about this back in Jan. http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17992 No idea how they've got an extra 14bhp but I imagine they've done something similar to the Mountune kit. It mentions "twin chrome exhaust pipes" so I reckon it'll just be a cat-back and a remap.

andyedge
Surely this is what the S1600 should have been in the first place with extra power over the standard Ti-VCT Makes the first S1600 editions look like a half-arsed effort. Sure glad I didn't buy one of these now. Still not showing in the configurator though.
AndrewL
It's still a pretty poor effort... wow, an extra 14bhp. Weird spin off semi upgrades like this makes me think that there won't ever be a fiesta ST.
RCJ
im still glad i got the original version... if they had made it 150-170 bhp, then i would be pretty !Removed! off
Focus_ST-3
I dont understand why this has been released when the Mountune upgrades are available. adzmcp, do you have any info on the exhaust?
andyedge
im still glad i got the original version... if they had made it 150-170 bhp, then i would be pretty !Removed! off Ah, but surely they are saving that for the ST/RS? Sorry, actually like the S1600, but Ford should have made the S1600 with extra power from the start. Then again, what do I know, I went for the (underpowered) TDCi

Then again, what do I know, I went for the (underpowered) TDCi i will admit i agree it should have more power, but im will mountune mine, the aim is before simply ford, but we'll see. I plan on going for a focus ST next, so dont bother me about the fez ST if they make one, but that seems unlikely! The day ford bring out a 200bhp Fiesta, i might decide to stick with fiesta! Mark M.K
I'm a tad confused by the quoted 0-60 of the new S1600. How can 14 BHP extra knock almost 2 seconds off the standard 1.6 engine?
MartynS
Higher rev limiter (what is it on the zs anyway?) perhaps? Isn't that how mountune knock 2 seconds off by letting you hit 60 in 2nd? That said I'm sure I've done 60 in 2nd...
withaplomb
I'm a bit annoyed that the S1600 didn't have a bit of a performance boost to start with. Still glad I bought it though, really stands out against all the other MK7s on the road. Still not sure about the mountune upgrade though, I'd be better selling this and getting a RenaultSport Clio, would be cheaper/faster! Focus_ST-3
I'm a tad confused by the quoted 0-60 of the new S1600. How can 14 BHP extra knock almost 2 seconds off the standard 1.6 engine? Apparently the 9.9seconds claimed by Ford for the standard Zetec S is a fairly conservative figure to keep the insurance group low. In reality, it is probably closer to 9seconds for the standard car. Focus_ST-3
Found a picture of the exhausts. Certainly more classy and integrated than the Mountune exhaust.
Jason Tierney
It could just be a milltek system as thats claimed between 10-14bhp? Standard ZS hit alot less than 9.9, as said I think Ford does them with full tank and 2 people + thier luggage onboard. Got a vid somewhere of mine doing just over 8seconds witha k&n and Milltek Cat-Back. Cant wait to get my milltek manifold and sports cat. This is what they should of had the Original S1600 as, it didnt make much more sense just for the stripes, wheels and leather I think
