Brayster
Came back to my car today and some unrepeatable so and so had driven into it and driven off. They have scratched the bumper and hit it hard enough to break the retaining clips on the bottom of the bumper. Not sure it worth doing through insurance as i have a high excess until I need to have better look at the weekend but i think that the bumper is repairable but it must have flexed a lot. The reflector is ruined and I’ll have to get some new plastic clips and bend the bottom bracket straight but i am not a happy bunny. As i left the car there were some youths opposite and i have a feeling it could have been them in there chav mobile. I called the car park but they said they would only review the film if there was a policeman present.... is this correct? They said something re data protection. Grrrr rant over anyone know where i can get a diagram of the bumper to check what of anything is bust and order the clips i can see have come off? MRC89
That's terrible! Yes that's correct, a policeman is usually needed to be present to review CCTV footage, we had a break in across from our factory car park, and a community support officer had to come with the car owner to see what they could see. I'd definitely advise contacting the police, as this is technically criminal damage(?) If you can find who's fault it was, then you won't have to pay a penny for the repairs. EDIT: Done a bit of digging around, it seems that if you can locate the person at fault (through CCTV) then you can go straight to the responsible party's insurance company with your proof. However if you can't find the person at fault, you'll have to claim on your insurance and you may have to pay your excess, apparently they may let you off it though. I'm no insurance expert. good luck!
Dan62
The Data Protection Act could work in your favour here. Write to the Car Park Owners asking for a "Subject access request under the 1998 Data Protection Act", give the approximate time and date and hopefully you will get a response. http://www.ico.gov.uk/for_organisations/data_protection/~/media/documents/library/Data_Protection/Detailed_specialist_guides/SUBJECT_ACCESS_REQUESTS_AND_LEGAL_PROCEEDINGS.ashx D. Nicola 88
Thats horrible!! How do people live with themselves if they just leave, so dishonest :( really hope you find who did it! When I park I always park at the end where there are no other cars or if its busy next to a well looked after car. I would hate to have my car scratched :(
JackieR
Thats horrible!! How do people live with themselves if they just leave, so dishonest :( really hope you find who did it! When I park I always park at the end where there are no other cars or if its busy next to a well looked after car. I would hate to have my car scratched :( I'm like you Nicola, I try to park next to nice cars too. Then, if walking back to my car I see the car/s have gone I always look over my car before I leave the car park. Tesco in Danestone being the main one i'm in most for shopping. I hate car parks !!! People really don't seem to care.

Morgancain
Thats awful I dont no how people can just do that and drive off. The same thing happened to me today popped the rear panel out slightly but that just popped back in, smashed rear fog light lens and scratched all around it. also looks to have cleaned around it to see what they have done. worst thing is it was in work carpark (shared with guests of the hotel) but out of site of cctv :(

Brayster
Right now i'm royally p***** off - decided to bite the bullet and get the whole bumper painted - I did and it looked great - great color match and only £100 So took bumper off and replaced reflector and clips and sent it off for paint Fixed However this am I go out to the car to come to work and see that some +++++++ has only gone and driven into it again in exactly the same place. Starting to think this car is jinxed :-( We braved the bank holiday garden centres yesterday it must have happened there.... even though I parked miles away in a deserted area in each of the car parks - each time I came back there was a car parked nxt to me. I remember thinking one time how did that car get in that space but as the guy was just getting out i was watching he didnt dent the car door.. Arrrrrrrrrrrrgh i cant believe it. Gutted AGAIN

Brayster
Honestly couldnt believe it when i walked out this am .. Thats twice in 3 weeks and I only got the car back on weds after being painted. Sadly it has taken the fresh paint down to the bumper plastic again in 2 places so wont polish out. Just spoken to the guy who painted it - taking it to him at lunch to see what he thinks.
GothicRebel
Im gob smacked, i can't believe its happened twice to you. Not by any chance you have been to the same place where you were hit the first time? I'm realy sorry to hear that dude.
Brayster
Nope different places each time I'll post a pic of new damage at lunch .... Still gutted ....... I've been wondering recently if panther Black was the wrong choice as most of the mods I have decided to do Look better on other colours ..... I've only had the thing 5/6weeks.... Brayster
The new damage Well just been to see the painter - another full bumper respray required - he might be able to do it cheaper as he still has the paint from last week!
Nico.
your problem here is probably the fact you are parking it miles away in the empty parts, i go to the asda around mine and its littered with people sat at the back of the car park who wouldn't think twice about doing one if they hit a car... but really am sorry to see all that done to ya! i thought i was unlucky with mine at times! Tunny
Surely a part spray will do?
Brayster
Fair point Nico ... I also have an old small bumper Mk2 golf in the garage that Ive restored .... I think i'll start drivin it more.... bumpers are so solid that theyll come off worse if they hit that! Tunny - Not sure about part spray - last time he said it wont match properly - but I didnt put up a fight as I knew the other side had a scratch on bottom of it when i picked it up so I knew that would get sorted too. 2011fiesta
God thats gutting. I can understand that in-disbelief feeling, my dad had 3 rear shunts in 4 weeks when sitting at give way lines in his last car. We were like is this a joke?!
