Fiesta 52-Plate Misfiring - Help!

Afternoon All,

I'm a newbie here, and am wondering if any of you kind souls can help.

My wife has a Fiesta Mk6 52-plate. Over the last week it has started misfiring and is getting progressively worse.

At the same time we noticed a little fluid on the drive, so took it to the garage. They advised that the radiator was leaking and that the rocker gasket also needed replacing. These were done. The fluid leak has stopped, but the mis-firing hasn't gone away.

Having done some googling, it seems the fault is one of two things:

1) Water in the HT Leads and spark plugs

2) Busted coil pack (this was replaced 2 years ago though - anyone know what sort of life expectancy to expect from a coil pack?)

3) Dirty MAF Sensor

4) Faulty lambda sensor(s)

The car is mainly used for short around-town trips.

I'd like to check the spark plugs and HT leads, but need to get the air filter off. Problem is, I can't see how it fastens onto the rest of the engine. All I can see are two small torx bolts which hold on the cover for the air filter sponge itself, but can't see how to get the bigger plastic bit off (with the Duratec writing on it).

Can anyone help? Also, anyone got any experience of this type of fault, and the best course of action to take?

Many thanks,

Kevin

Hey,

Once you get the 2 screws out the top give the air box a sharp tug and it should pull off. Then you will have access to the spark plugs.
