russellf
Hi, I have just got a new Fiesta and my insurance company covers the full invoice price for the first year. The plan is that I will keep the car for two years, so I need GAP insurance for one year deferred for one year. Fords only do GAP for two years and wants about £240!!! So.... can anyone recommend any good companies ? I have looked on Google, but there isn't any well known names.
adamc260
I used ALA (www.ala.co.uk) who are very well known. I've worked in the Insurance Industry for coming up 5 years now too If you use 'PG18V ' promo code you get 10% off (tested and working) I've read over the T&C's of the policy and bought one that gives me 3 years cover and it gives you a lot that others dont for example, Pays up to £250 of your insurance excess, lets you transfer it FREE to a new vehicle if you change and most importantly "We cover for theft of keys" I don't think they defer the policy for a year unfortunately but often the cover you get with your insurer has T&C's attached to it Also they say "If you find a comparable GAP premium online for less, we will match the price and beat it by 20% of the difference!" I'm not affiliated to ALA in any way at all btw, just used them for my own Gap insurance :)
MartynS
I used surf and protect when I took mine out last year. They let you defer by up to 12 months, but I don't remember any other details about them! Another one I looked at was click4gap but they were dearer and couldn't defer. These were the main 2 that kept coming up in my searches, but as this was a while ago now there may be other better ones available.
iNath
I didn't bother with GAP insurance and I don't see the point tbh unless you've put a really low deposit down and the car is worth less than what you owe. Otherwise any payment should cover the finance.

Otherwise any payment should cover the finance. Gap is there to really cover depreciation and any payment "should" cover the finance wouldn't suit me as it may cover the finance but you have nothing to show for it at the end of the day for the sake of 50-60 quid You can be covered lol
TDCiST
you can haggle on GAP price from the dealer... I did, got it cheaper than £240 by a little...
Bigfatsi
I recently got a call from Ford offering 2 or 3 year gap for the price of one. Also payable monthly at (I think) it was £20. Might be worth chasing this up with Ford/Dealer. HTH S
