jasonsimms
Hi guys looking for some help...... i Have a 1996 'S' plate mk2 mondeo 1.8L petrol with 118000 miles on it. I have noticed that in the spark plug well of what i would call number 1 cylinder (drivers side of the engine) that there is some oil gathering and i dont know where it is from. Hoping its a common fault and an easy fix. Would this also cause a missfire?? I get some coughing and spluttering when i plant my foot. if not any idea as to what could be wrong i changed the plugs about 12000 miles ago. Do i need new leads?? Coil packs??? Thanks for the help... Jason
btmaldon
Sounds like the oil in the plug well is the most likely cause of the misfire. Chances are it is leaking from the cam shaft cover (rocker cover in the old days) and needs a new gasket.
