jimbro
Just installed it I had a Pioneer DAB system in the Pajero but it went when I sold it. Bought a Sonichi S100 DAB adaptor from Halfords(£49.99+£14.99 for the magmount antenna) Now have the Sonichi playing out into the AUX port on the Mondeo system and my iPOD connected to the AUX IN on the Sonichi. That way, I can use the steering wheel volume controls. Now have Kerrang, Planet Rock, etc.
Turvey
Damn you and your available selection of various DAB rock stations! We can only get the BBC DAB up here!!! Just jealous really ;) Nice one Jim :)
troy45
I'm stuck with Real XS until I sort something out with a DAB receiver, will have a look at the Halfords kit especially as I've got their discount card now :)
BOF
I have thought of one of those Sonichi things, as they are quite cheap. What do you think of it, and how do you find the DAB coverage using it (I guess that your mag mount antenna is better than one of those 'stick on the windscreen' things, particularly with a heated screen)? Have you found a particularly good place to mount it? This 'just DAB' thingy mounts into the cigar lighter, and looks slightly better, to me, but it is a little more expensive and doesn't seem particularly clear about the antenna (one of the reviews seems to suggest that it is a wire that can be tucked behind the windscreen rubbers, so that is probably a dangling wire)...and, that cigar lighter is where I plug in the Sat Nav. jimbro
I find the DAB receptiongood in my area and it'll only get better as fm is phased out. So far, I've populated all the presets (36) with DAB statioins including Planet Rock, Kerrang, Team Rock, Absolute, etc. I've now moved the antenna inside the car as I was getting wind noise where the cable exited the hatchback. It now sits at the offside at the sie of the cargo cover and DAB reception is still as good. Ive ordered a slightly different mount for the main unit so I'll post some pics once I fit it.

jimbro
Here you go, final (ish) installation iPOD(160GB) to the AUX in of the DAB adapter AUX OUT from the adapter to the AUX IN for the Sony head unit Reception is excellent and the audio quality through the standard head unit is great. It has four preset buttons giving a total of 36 DAB stations and 4 FM stations(never listen to them now) Just need to encase the cables in some convoluted tubing(when I find it) Now relocated the magmount antenna back to the roof as the reception suffered when it was in the boot. jeebowhite
Looking good, do you leave it all in situ or remove after journeys?
jimbro
Thanks. I leave it there permanently as the cars always in sight. If I was leaving it somewhere else, it only takes eeconds to disconnect it and put it in the glovebox
