The Dark Knight
Well I've gone and done the deal online. Just ordered a 64GB iPhone Plus in white & silver direct from O2 as an upgrade. 6 - 7 weeks from 19/09 is what they advise but it may turn up sooner. Called into a store to look at one today and yes it is massive but extremely light and I really liked it so just going to play the waiting game now... Anyone else ordered or got one already? VickiW
Happy out with my iPhone 4s still ..I'd be terrified to get top of the range with kiddies like the chap in Aussie dropping his hilarious
mixmasterlooney
Samsung fanboy here - nice to see Apple catching up with Android in terms of features ;) Pffh I a !Removed!, they've copied Samsung, it looks like a Samsung, they've even put the lock button the same place as Samsung and the "new rounded edges" is like any other samsung. Spec wise it's worse than the s5 or note4 in everywhere apart from the finger detection and slow motion playback. The resolution is over 100dpi less than the s5 and note4. It doesn't even support 4k resolution or 1080p on the regular 6. Apple has lost it despite being 6 months newer than the s5 it's worse.
SeanW
I've had Samsungs for a while...I had a small Galaxy Europa about the time the S2 was announced. Next phone was the S3 - absolutely loved it!! Upgraded last month to the S5...it's got the familiarity of the S3 with enough extras to keep me happy :D As for Apple copying...I seem to recall them dragging Samsung through the courts because the S2 looked too much like an iPhone...which isn't bad, as I believe Apple outsourced their screens...to Samsung lol
Brycie
Uh-oh, a thread about Apple v Android? There may be trouble ahead lol. IPhone/pad screens are made by AU Optronics in China, who also make some (not all) screens for Samsung, Acer, Lenovo.... I have the HTC One M8 which replaced my old S3. I miss the Samsung :( Wifey has iPhone & personally don't get on with it, but you can't fault them, their marketing has almost got them world domination. At least 80% of schools buying tablets, are choosing iPads I reckon. Some schools have completely got rid of desktops/laptops & gone exclusively with iPads. The Dark Knight
I'd never buy Samdung. Just saying Apple is instantly superior to admitting ownership of Samdung. Brand snobbery no matter what the features :P
mixmasterlooney
Admitting ownership of Samsung. that's ironic considering Samsung has been selling apple their technology such as screen and processors for year. During the apple lawsuit apple openly said they wanted to remove dependancy from using Samsung parts and they did, now none of their screens or processor is better than samsung as it was before
The Dark Knight
Yes I know but I get to use the word iPhone as opposed to Samsung when telling people what phone I've got :P On a serious note, I never actually cared what features Samsung, Sony or Nokia etc. could boast. It was an iPhone 6 Plus without even looking. I have a MacBook Pro too and the iPhone will work seamlessly with it (especially when OSX Yosemite is released next month)
mixmasterlooney
Yeah I think anyone who has a mac device without a doubt get an iPhone it's secure and very easy to connect. Personally I prefer the full on red blooded unlimited beast android gives you. I like Apple and I fear that without serious competition from apple, Samsung may lose their motivation in creating advance devices but other than being a cool kid because you've got the latest iPhone apple is starting to lose there footing and the android market is growing rapidly. Since apple has now run out of lawsuits with Google and Samsung it's going be hard to keep android down plus I believe Google is just waiting on the days they can use Motorola to its fullest. Google made some arrangement to keep certain Motorola aspect the same for 10 years or so keeping jobs etc that was part of the purchase deal although it limits Google greatly but after that time is up I believe Google will have all they need to create phones taking on Samsung
Marks12
I have the Samsung note 3 its purely brilliant does what i need it to do and it doesnt die after 5 hours of use keeps on going. Samsung has one important thing they never told apple and thats how to choose the right battery or a phone that has a good battery life. My mam has a iPhone 5s and anytime i ever see it, its plugged into a wall. that for me really puts me off buying the iPhone and the fact you have to pay for nearly everything from what ever apple uses as there store (the equivalent to the google play store on samsungs) Kurt as far as i am aware Samsung are already partners with Google it think thats obvious cause on the back of my phone it says with google, but should be good seeing what they do with motorola now. I am already counting down the days till my contract ends so i can get a new s5 or what ever s is out when it is up

Stoney871
Samsung all the way. Went from a S3 to a S5 and very happy with it. Apple's ios is too clunky and obtrusive. Being tied to using Apples own software to transfer files is a bind, I have always found itunes too fiddly and faddy, trying to load my own music from files or cd's results in a right mess of folders with one track in each when working with compilations. I use Kies to sync and back up files, settings and acounts, compilations and file transfer is easy to just drag/drop. Apple are too concerned with controlling your device rather than letting you do your own thing as you see fit.
Stoney871
Plus I see more iphones with smashed screens than any other make. Stick one in your back pocket and you're looking for a repair service pretty soon. My niece has broken 3 screens in 6 months, my screen is still mint. Nuff said! mixmasterlooney
I have a note 2 and it is without doubt the best battery on any phone i have ever used and i've been through many phones. the note series seem to be Samsung list of phones without limits where it isn't the direct competitor to the iPhone... now it is to the new 6plus of course. On the subject of celebrities i think they were asking for it anyways, pics like that always get leaked
The Dark Knight
This will be my 3rd iPhone. Started with the 4 and I've got a 5 at the moment. My contract always expires around the time of the new model so I never bothered with the 4S and 5S. Never had any broken screens either. Depends how much care you take and once I actually dropped my 5 onto the pavement and no case to protect it. Not so much as a scratch which I was relieved about. The 6 Plus gets high praise for battery life but the 'normal' 6 didn't fare so well. I guess the bigger phone = bigger battery. EDIT: No frustration with files and iTunes for me either as I use a MacBook so they sync perfectly. Makes sense for me
Phil 87
I am already counting down the days till my contract ends so i can get a new s5 or what ever s is out when it is up Why not just but an unlocked phone and swap your sim into it, unless you're waiting for a new phone to come out. I agree about battery life, the perfect example was when I was on holiday in Italy with a friend, he was constantly worried about his iPhone battery running out, whereas I wasn't. So for the whole week my £90 Moto E was more useful than his iPhone which costs how much? Luckily we were both on 3 so had practically unlimited data even though we were in another country :)

I'd be out of a job :( Besides, there's a general feeling amongst seafarers that crewless shipping is incredibly unlikely for global routes. There have been some tests in Japan (I think). Plus I see more iphones with smashed screens than any other make. Stick one in your back pocket and you're looking for a repair service pretty soon. My niece has broken 3 screens in 6 months, my screen is still mint. Nuff said! I managed to crack my S3 a couple of days after I got it. It flew out of my bag onto a tiled leisure centre floor - a good 6ft or more...only cracked slightly - hardly even noticed it and kept using it for about 4 months until I dropped it again and the crack grew. Girlfriend at the time dropped her iPhone from about 3 feet onto a hard floor...shattered the screen. Dad dropped his S3 a few weeks ago - from the drivers seat of a truck, right onto the top left corner - that was quite impressive...but still was not a patch on the damaged iPhone above. Why not just but an unlocked phone and swap your sim into it, unless you're waiting for a new phone to come out. The Dark Knight
^ Typical video for the android crowd to enjoy and circulated in a desperate bid to slate the iPhone and boast how many more features the android phones have. If I cared about features and tech spec, I would have bought one. I just care about having an iPhone as I have a MacBook and I like iPhones.Android phones never get the same media coverage and queues as Apple. I think the lack of limelight makes the Android crowd bitter and desperate. Regardless of spec etc, if you buy a Samsung or similar brand, you are more likely to be asked why you didn't buy an iPhone than an iPhone owner is to be asked why they didn't buy a Samsung etc. That's just the status of the iPhone. To me, the iPhone always has been and always will be far superior, no matter what specs and critics say. Simple as that.
nath.mk7.st
I picked my 6plus up after work tonight and love it it's big but already getting used to the size and prefer it. Each to there own I guess but I've always been pretty nerdy with phones since the 3310. And I've been to Samsung Sony lg but I always come back to apple and they haven't seemed to let me down like the others have done in the past. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
Brycie
I'm not anti Apple products, so my evaluation isn't about being a boo boy, or being bitter about iPhone hype. I simply look at all the technical specs whenever I'm buying anything, whether it's a tv, a food processor for the wife, a car etc etc. It's why I bought HTC instead of Samsung this time. The iPhone simply doesn't stack up in terms of spec & practicality to me. Hats off to Apple, their marketing is probably the best in the world & they've built themselves a big market share, but that's what sells their phones - the marketing. Personally I'm not one to follow the crowd, I prefer to get the best product for the money. Having said that, I wouldn't slate people who do buy into the Apple image.
