Ford Focus Mk1 Stereo Fitting

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm new here and new to owning a Ford Focus (I own a 52 plate, MK1). Sorry if a guide has been posted but I have searched high and low for a guide or any hints/tips and cannot find anything.

So, I've just bought a stereo (Sony MEX-N4000BT) and it says on it that it is steering wheel control compatible. Now, I've got the gist of installing the stereo but how would I install the steering wheel stalk adapter? Also what adapter do I need, as in the make, model and what not. If anyone has got an up to date guide or a really guide for dummies like me lol, I will appreciate it. Thanks.

Any more details, just ask.

Oh, just found these two, I don't know if they are they right things to buy...

The second one you linked appears to be the correct one.

Is the new stereo a single or double din?

If single then you need the dash spacer.

If a double you'll need a full dash panel as aftermarket double din radios are a different dimension.

Thanks for replying. I've actually seen another one lol, there's so many, I'm confused! - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PC99-X07-FORD-FOCUS-MK1-1998-to-2005-STALK-ADAPTOR-STEERING-CONTROLS-LEAD-/160888923093?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&var=&hash=item2575ba23d5

As for the single/double din, I've got bought this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121090460201?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Hopefully, you won't tell me it's the wrong one! But sorry for posting too many links.

I think this should be all that you need to fit your stereo (If I got the make and model correctly).

Email the guys at Dynamic Sounds and they will point you in the right direction. They seem to be the cheapest supplier for the fitting kits. I bought my own from them and was cheaper than getting the parts separately. Plus, free UK shipping.

Best thing to do is to email/call Dynamic Sounds. They are very helpful and will tell you exactly which one would fit your car :)

Ah man. Shucks. Any chance of being able to return it? You could always just sell it back on Ebay :)

I realised that I'd need to buy the patch separately which is a fiver so I'm not better off haha

Ah well, can't win them all. At least you have an idea what you need to connect it all together :)
