Engine Rattle When Cold

Featured Replies

We have Ford Focus MK2 1.6 vct petrol 2006 reg which just started with slight engine rattle when cold also when the car is driven down the motorway the car stutters and holds back on throttle response. I am thinking separate issues, haven't managed to plug it into code reader yet as daughter is using it. Any ideas with these problems could either be a common problem. Thanks Steve

I think the 1.6 in the focus is a zetec se motor, so from my experience with my 1.4 the start up rattle isn't a problem so long as it goes away within say 5 minutes, it's attributed to the all aluminium build, the holding back would probably be cured with a standard service, filters and plugs unless it's throwing an eml.

can be a faulty vct solenoid without a check light or codes theres no way to tell

Thanks for the ideas, full service 4 months ago but need to get code reader on it when I can get hold of the car.
