Things I Don't Like

Featured Replies

I don't like on a trip up to the compost bin, seeing a forest of bindweed emerging from around the comfreys:sad:

It was only five days ago, I dug out all the visible bindweed.  Unfortunately even the smallest piece of root can produce a new plant:sad:

Had that been a barren plot, i could have sprayed it with round-up: but I don't want to kill the comfreys:sad:

It's a pity slugs and  snails don't like bindweed as much as young vegetables:mellow:

I also don't like completely forgetting about a Trans K9 dog crate (B24 model) on ebay.  Which I was going to snipe this afternoon, is wasn't  too far away either (1½-2 hours), most of them that come up are either in Scotland or North Wales.  There is a double one (B14 model) in Warminster but its too wide and too deep for the Mk2: it's meant for a Nissan Navara pickup.

Don't like seeing my bank balance as being overdrawn, all because I was about 500 quid down on the month before, which is annoying this month as I've seen a car I could at least double my money on

I don't like the 405's handbrake deciding it couldn't be bothered holding the car...  Was perfectly fine when I parked up, a foot away from the front of the Hyundai, only to look out of the window an hour later and find their bumpers touching!  I'll be leaving it in reverse in future!!

I don't like worrying about my theory test on Wednesday...

The questions aren't really a problem as I know I'll get at least the required 43 correct, but the hazard perception is my fear.  I am very quick at detecting and preempting possible hazards whilst actually driving, but I seem to miss things more when watching on a video, probably because I am over-analyzing the situation and focusing on things which aren't hazards therefore missing things that are!

I could cope with failing my practical test (just!), but if I fail my theory I'd be absolutely mortified.

Have you been using a practice disc?

Remember you can be penalised on the HP test for being too cautious too

I have indeed, but my anxiety always gets the better of me and no matter how prepared I am - I always envisage making a donkey of myself on the day.

That's the problem, is that I see things that in real life I'd anticipate as a possible hazard, but if I click on every one in the video I'd end up being overly cautious.  I think it is a stupid idea (the HP, not the questions) and pointless considering the examiner can easily test your HP during the driving test anyway.

Just because you can spot hazards on a video, doesn't mean you could spot them (or prevent them) whilst driving a car!  I'd rather be able to spot them whilst driving and struggle on video, than the other way around.

You can't drive in the Highlands/Moray/Aberdeenshire without being good at hazard perception!  Almost every road has multiple blind bends, summits, single-file areas, unmarked junctions etc...

Just do your best to relax and no caffeine drinks before the test.

A cup of camomile tea or two is of benefit.

No caffeine!?  I can't get dressed, let alone think about driving without at least one cup of coffee!

That said, my test isn't until 13:30 so I should be OK with a couple of early morning coffees.

I just need to remind myself that I am a good driver and therefore can pass a theory test.  I use all the necessary skills every time I get behind the wheel of the 405, so if I fail then it isn't that I don't have the knowledge, but rather that I didn't use it.

Just think of the reward of a shiny new full licence at the end of it all.

True.  And given that there is a 17 week waiting list for the practical test, I need to get that booked ASAP or I won't even have a chance of passing my test this year!!

Calm thoughts and fluffy bunnies 😁

waiting for even 3 !Removed! consecutive days without rain so i can wash my !Removed! car.

i hate this countries weather

Caffeine actually encourages anxiety!!!

I failed my first hazard perception test for being overly cautious!

Good luck Jamie.

I was shocked to pass my theory/HP first time.  Hadn't passed a single practice test lol

And now...now I'm looking at doing it again - for cat D1.  We're fundraising for many things at cadets, a minibus being one of them.  But we would rather have the LWB Transit bus - which has a MAM of 4100kg, 600kg more than can be driven on a cat B (not for hire or reward).

I've been using one and it's been really useful. I'm confident on the multiple choice as I've been passing all the practice tests. Just need to more hazard perception...

My theory is booked for 30th June, hopefully I'll pass!

Cheers Clive! I'm anxious to get it done so then I can book the practical, which has a very long waiting list!

I just manged to over my test date to the 29th, that's a day earlier!

Don't like applying for a new job then instantly regretting it as I had a good day when I went back to work.  Oh well

You don't have to take the other job if you're offered it?

I don't like losing half the tuna out of my sandwich:mellow:

My brother used to apply for jobs as a matter of course, most of the time he didn't take them up when offered.  He used it, one to improve his interview skills, and two to negotiate a better package where he was at the time, with new offer as leverage.

I don't like seeing my "to do" list for the cars increasing by the day...  This is one of the (very) few times I see the advantage of owning a new car, no parts failing or bits falling off!!*

I'd like to as I don't want to work at/on the current system I'm on + it's very rare I have an actual good day here

I'm not into that sort of thing, I'm on a decent rate where I am it's just I don't want to work on this type of high intense system(not because I'm lazy lol) I stick out like a sore thumb here

I don't like taking a few hours off, to make full use of last nights heavy downpour, and weed the rest of the drive, only to find another heavy downpour hedging towards a monsoon has got going in the last half hour. The rain radar forecast shows it's going to here at least until 3pm-ish:sad:

Now i'm not sure whether to don my full waterproof linesmans coverall and continue regardless: or to abandon drive weeding, a do some some paperwork:unsure:

The weeds and mosses are much easier to tease out between the paviors when they've had a good soaking.

I don't like having four slices of roast beef left in the fridge, which goes off tomorrow (cooked 3 days ago) but have no use for it, and cannot freeze it as it was frozen previously whilst raw.
