Things I Don't Like

Featured Replies

Don't like when you see a person who collects cars to deliver it to another garage, don't know what it is called its like you see a car on a site then this person is paid to either

take the car or go there to collect it.

He drives them like a mad man and eats food in them and smokes, dont know the person but asked a friend, what does he do because he comes in so many top cars and

he told me this above, these are 30k plus cars in some cases.....bmw/merc/audi etc.

Makes you think.

You have more guts than me😂. Do be careful though. Us young guys like they say can be young and stupid. Last thing you want is points and a driving ban and that might make it hard to get insured.

It was one of those things I wanted to try once, felt a bit silly afterwards 😂

Tbh we've probably all done more than we should have done on certain sections of road. 110 in a 40 though is very risky.
A lot of the roads and dual carriageways round here have had their speed limits reduced over the last 10 years. Most of them are now 40 limits when they used to be 50 or 70.
One of the sections dropped to 40 is right outside the police operations centre which houses the RPU, mounted unit and NPAS31 (police helicopter). The amount of people who exceed the limit on that stretch is unbelievable despite the clear signs of the 40 limit and also a massive police sign at the side of the road.
I had a guy undertake me in a fiesta ST on that stretch and he was gone by the time I reached the roundabout 30 seconds later (this was a few days after I'd installed the dash cam too so it's all caught on video).

Probably shouldn’t admit this but I had the RS at 110 on an arrow straight but 40mph limited section of the A30 at about 11:30 at night when I drove it home for my dad.

Considering this is a public forum, with your name and pictures of your car on it, I'd suggest definitely not admitting that on here...

Yes, I'm sure we've all done something silly at some point in our lives, but best not to go into detail! Depending on the seriousness, could it also put those members who are serving police officers in an awkward position?

I don't like buying these handles from The Range to replace the horrible plastic ones IKEA provided for their otherwise perfectly acceptable wardrobe.

As you can see you get one size of screw with indentations which, I assume, is so you can cut them to an appropriate length.

Problem 1, actually managing to cut the damn thing! I managed after about 5 minutes using the cutting pliers.

Problem 2, the length I've cut it to is too long, however the next mark down will be too short!

Down to a local industrial supplies company tomorrow for the correct size screws 🙄

I like these handles even less now!!!

Gave up and used the B&Q ones we had already bought 🙄

The terrible thing is I’ve seen far worse on much more dangerous stretches of road 😬. Probably not the best idea putting it on here, buts it certainly not something I would ever consider doing again except on a track.

A lot of places round here have had the same, but mostly for a reason. This place was about 100 miles from where I live, and was flat and straight along a well sighted piece of road in a rural area, so probably should’ve been NSL but I guess it could be an accident blackspot as people get into a false sense of security.

I don’t think putting something on a forum would be a basis for conviction, as a court would likely say its hearsay which is inadmissible as evidence. If there was video on the other hand...

I'm sure you're smart enough to make your own safety & risk decisions, just don't put any illegal activity online.  Insurers use forums (as well as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc) to check for undeclared mods and illegal acts, you never know who's who on the internet! 😮

Whilst you say forum text is hearsay, if the police had reports or dashcam footage of a speeding RS matching the description in your sig on the road you mention I wouldn't be so sure!

And the innocent victims of Operation Midland had their lives and reputations trashed on the strength of something even less reliable than hearsay.😕

The thing I didn't like today was the stop start traffic all the way from Plymouth to Bristol.
Flaming caravans and cars with trailers / bikes and roof boxes hanging off them everywhere.
Took me 30 minutes just to get out of Taunton Deane services, wanted really to give the services a miss but mr bladder complained.
This does lead onto a I like post though....

Some of you may remember I posted about switching to laundry liquid from laundry powder a few weeks ago...  Well I've finally finished my mammoth box of powder so onto the liquid...  However I've just realised the liquid dosing ball probably cant take the heat of the dryer...  I've got a washer/dryer combi that does the whole thing in one cycle.  Not sure whether to put some directly into the drum or into the drawer...anyone know?

So, I wasn't happy with the results of just dumping the liquid in the drawer last week...

Thought 'what's the worst that can happen?' and chucked the ball in on a combined wash and drying cycle today...  Literally nothing happened to it, no melting, no shrinking, it got a little warm...that's it!

My road tax has gone up to £200 a year, the RS is only £145 despite putting out more CO2! And the Mondeo is £265 with the same emissions as the RS. How does this work?

That's weird. You sure it doesn't come down to age?

I'm only paying £30 a year for my 1.6 diesel fiesta and because its at that certain tax range it won't go up yearly. The only problem is the ULEZ charge expansion I really hope they don't bring in 2021 otherwise I'll have to forcefully sell my car.

Saw someone in a 2019 audi A4 estate today going down the left lane then quickly indicating into the right lane to go right after the traffic lights. It angers me that these people drive around in nice new cars but lack sense to drive it.

Different tax regime for cars registered before 31/3/2017 unfortunately. There are some winners as well as losers, my Mrs's car is still only £20 despite being higher CO2 than my Fiesta. Also under the current regime there is a first year payment of up to £2135 (depending on CO2) before going onto the standard rate of £145 from year 2 on. Until they decide to change it again................😀

Diesel is the main loser under the new flat rate regs...it doesn't take much to get a diesel into the £30 tax bracket, even reasonably decent stuff like big Beemers and Audi's, plus of course the diesel Focus ST...  If buying diesel, you're usually best to buy one before 17 plate.  If buying petrol over 1.6 you're probably best to buy after 17 plate.

I’m honestly tempted to just get rid of this car and finance something newer in which the tax and expense is actually worthwhile.

My partner just showed me a Facebook post of a fiesta which had the the whole front end stolen last night , and only 2/3 miles away. And the owner was at home !!

Nothing is safe now. Getting my partner to drive her car right up against our garage door from now on. If they nick the rear bumper , they welcome to that as she reversed into a post last week.

Mine's locked in the garage while I'm away, and the keys are hidden in a tin inside the house...

You should see the crime happening in London. Just on Sunday police blocked the main road for a report of a stabbing. Another story being a group of 6 young guys surrounding a guy on a bike asking for it. It's these school kids messing up their lives whilst on summer holidays.

I mainly just get angry on the stupidity of drivers even if they don't directly come in my way. Puts me off driving.

Don't like thinking that my Focus may be coming to the end of its useful life with me. The terrible knocking and just rubbish economy (+£200 ved, 36ish mpg), I have actually booked to go and see two new cars.

Both Skoda Octavia Estate 1.6 SE TDI 4x4s , but they differ by a few extras that Skoda made standard across the years. They'll cost £30 ved, decrease my fuel cost by 1/2-2/3rds and I do the mileage to not have to worry about the DPFs. If the price is right, Bluey will have to go and find a new owner 😞

I toyed with the idea of a 4x4 car, and after a weekend of attempting to get off a field (although I did manage in the end), and just seeing everyone else in AWD/4x4s effortlessly glide off, well it made my mind up.

Well had some bad issues with a pair of SGS Hatch struts and still no good and been sent back to them and i had them back,Hatch sticks half way with video proof.

Another thing...DONT TRY THIS......tried some springs on the struts on the SGS ones as there no good to me now but the pressure of the springs pops the strut off and also bends the bracket where its screwed to the car very slight so no good as the spring has to compress so much and still be strong its bad,end result a bang and pop and popped off and bent slight.

Learn me to listen on here what a person said but all sorted now and as good as new.

I don't like the story my dad told me today when he went to his friends house.

He was doing some DIY there when he had to remove the floor boards. Underneath he said he saw something which looked to be a dead animal. Recognised its rib cage, paws, tail.

Then realised it was a DEAD dog 😱😭. Must of been dead for a long time as he said it looked mummified the skin and it was covered in dust.

Makes me wonder when the poor thing died and who would be that bad to leave it there 😢. Would think it would of let of a bad smell during decomposition.

That must of stunk being there so long, you never know these days.

I don't like one of my workmates being done for not wearing a seatbelt today!

He was emptying rubbish bins around the town today and got stopped by visiting traffic cops. Even though you could see the bin he had just emptied behind him and the next bin on his list was just in front of him the copper reckoned it was nearer 150 metres rather than the 100m allowed for not belting up. He wouldn't even have got out of 2nd gear between them. £100 fine, more than a day's wage. Seems a bit harsh on a man just trying to do his job.

Surely there could have been some leeway? 🙄
