Why does the forum search engine not find the word "welcome" if you do a search ? 🙁

Got a 2024 Puma Loan car this morning, while mine's in for service.

Holy regen batman, lift off the throttle it's like resting your foot on the brake. You have to feather the throttle if you want it to roll.

And whats with the squircle steering wheel??

Spare a thought for the poor souls following behind you. I bet the brake lights don't come on when it's doing it's regen braking. 🤔

Riding with a cycling club on weekends seems to bring out various idiot drivers too

Seeing death-wish suicidal cyclists ignoring traffic rules, including red lights, going as fast as they possibly can, head down weaving through traffic.

(I'm a cyclist myself and am totally aware of the dangers of jousting with cars - I have the scars)

I think the introduction of 20mph speed limits may help, though cyclists may object having to reduce their speed to this new limit 🤣

Don't think they will notice.

This forum has turned into the "do I have a wet belt / should I change my wet belt" forum. I can't really blame people though, Ford really got it wrong on this one.

Like a monthly subscription for a doorbell

OR monthly subscription for 'cloud' storage for phone photos rather than allowing a memory card

OR monthly subscription to have a training bicycle in living room complete with screen so some stranger can scream at you!

Or monthly subscription to watch some right ***** on TV.

Carly is crap anyway unless they've updated it recently?

I ended up buying a VCDS clone instead for VAG stuff.  That was about 6 years ago now though, and it doesn't get updated, so I'm not sure if works on cars newer than it's latest update.  My theory is that it should work on the models that were available in that year, and still being built in following years.  But that it won't work on models that were released after that date. 🤔

On the same box🤣🤣🤣

I don't like that this morning, my delightful Fiesta had no electrical power at all.
I was going to go out shopping, got to the car and put my hand on the handle to unlock it but got nothing.
Took the key out of my pocket and pressed the unlock button and again, nothing.
Ran back inside and got the spare key, tried to unlock the car and, you guessed it, nothing.

I had to use the key blade to unlock the drivers door to get into the car.
No interior lights, no dash lights, absolutely zippo.

Oh great, knackered battery I thought.
No one available to give me a jump so had to call out the RAC.

RAC bloke turned up, checked the battery with the meter and it was down at 4 volts. 9 volts drained in under 20 hours since the last time I used it.
He boosted the battery and the car started.
He then tested the battery and it showed 14.5v and that the alternator was charging the battery.
Then he turned the car off, left it a few seconds and started it up again with no issues.

Something is causing parasitic drain on the battery despite everything supposedly being off (inc the 12v socket which the dashcam is attached to).

Now both myself and the RAC bloke are thinking there's possibly something wrong with the BCM and it isn't shutting down correctly, causing the power drain.
Never had an issue with the previous Fiesta draining the battery, even with the dashcam plugged in all the time and have not had this drain issue with this one until today. I've owned it 9 months and it even passed the first MOT 10 days ago and nothing indicated there was an issue.

I drove the car yesterday to the shop and back and it was fine. It started, drove and stopped with no issue.

*When he tested the battery and alternator, he also did a test for any drain. He expected 0.5 amps which is normal drain but it fluctuated between 1.7 amps and 3.5 amps with the car switched off.

This isn't uncommon on modern Fords.  One module stays awake instead of shutting down and drains the battery overnight.

It's not necessarily a constant fault.  It happened on mine once, fully recharged it, made no attempt to diagnose or fix, yet it never happened again.

Similar thing happened to Alex's Focus as well.

The worst thing is Tom that if it happens again say tomorrow or in a few days, the RAC will charge me for coming out again for the same fault.
RAC bloke seems to think that the 12v socket didn't switch off power so the dashcam was left on overnight and thus draining power.
However, I can't see that being the issue because the dashcam turned itself off normally last night as soon as I turned the engine off.

I now have another issue in that the TPMS is not reading the tyre pressures at all so I'm going to have to manually check the tyre pressures before driving any distance.

I've got a GB40 jump starter for this sort of thing.  No need to call breakdown.

My battery was at just 2.2v so I had to use the override button on the jump starter but then the engine started within seconds.  It's not often I'm genuinely impressed by tech but I was by that!

The price has gone up for those since I got mine, but there are other brands available.

Unless the RAC guy stood around doing nothing for at least 30 minutes just waiting for the car to go back to sleep, I'm not in the least surprised that he was getting a current draw of 1.7 to 3.5 Amps. Were the keysfobs placed well out of range of the car or were they still next to it ?
