Things I Don't Like

Featured Replies

I don't like DIY. Been tasked with tiling the kitchen, utility and downstairs toilet floors. All sorts of odd angles , none of the walls / skirting boards are at right angles. A right nightmare esp with a dog that sleeps in the kitchen.

The winter cold, grey cloudy days, having no garage to work in, knowing I have to get under the car to drain coolant, getting old and lazy, inability to stop procrastinating.

Where can I buy some motivation pills?

Home insurance renewal, gone up 32%.

Went to get some bits i'd left on the back seat to find the passenger side corner over the arch wet on the bum and hip part. Been throwing it down for days so need to find a dry one, will start with the spoiler. Any recommendations for a non adhesive silicone or rubber type sealer ?

thanks

Strange issue with Spotify this week.  Will only play one track at a time.  I have to go back to the app when it finishes and select the next track.  Not sure if there's a setting for that?  I've tried a force stop and phone reboot without any change.

Sounds a spot ify to me. Usual fix here on the forum is to bang it on the top with your hand and then send it to @rd457 for a spot of soldering  🤣

Can you tell when I'm board ? 🤔

Here comes the snow. Luckily it should melt in the morning.

been having issues with my TV signal, turn the Tv on watch something for between 20-52mins and the telly will turn itself off and immediately on again back to the channel it was. Couple of local techs said check any timers [done] check all connections and software updates [done] possibly mainboard on way out. My just wait for it to finally go bang or resolve itself as one mooted a possible transmitter problem, we'll see. Spotify can be a pain at times so I upgraded from a Dot to a Show, just as bad. I don't think they're bothered anymore for the extortionate prices they charge for non genuine [cover] artists. Much prefer to stream to it from my laptop, expensive remote speaker.

I only use free Spotify for some background noise while browsing FOC on the toilet.  Has done the job up until now.  Hopefully it just needs an update or something.

Ours had gone up by 27%. After finding a better quote from the same company on a comparison site and a bit of negotiation and tweaking some excesses I got it down to 11%.

My hot water cylinder fault has taken a baffling turn.  Long story short, it never has worked properly but kept getting progressively worse, tried to have it partially fixed/bodged 6 months ago but they made it worse still.  Just keep trying to put up & shut up until I can move.

But now the hot water has slowed to a trickle.  Would assume there's vacuum being pulled in the tank but I don't understand how that can happen when I can still hear the cold water gushing in?

Is there some sort of valve that controls the cold flow into the cylinder, or does that just rely on back pressure to cut it off when 'full' again?  Just wondering if the gushing noise is a red herring and it's not filling as quick as I think.

Tom, with the amount of anomalies you suffer with in your home, you ever thought of an exorcist? 😁

@TomsFocus is it a Megaflo type of cylinder? I know they need recharged occasionally to restore the air at the top. Instructions are easily found online.

If it's not then I'm not sure what to do.

Yes it is.  The internal float failed a few years ago so it's rarely had an air bubble in about half a decade.  But this is a new issue and I can't understand which part is 'newly' faulty now.  (Relief valve has been faulty for years too, so don't think it can be anything to do with that one).

Sounds like you need to get someone in who actually knows what they're speaking about, takes pride in their work/name and won't just bodge it like you seem to have been 6 months ago.

I'm assuming you're renting privately and your landlord isn't too keen to actually spend money on his/her property?

report the landlord to housing standards as your moving it will come as no suprise when they issue an eviction notice 😀

I can't move until there's a suitable property available.  Definitely couldn't cope with eviction, I don't have the balls for anything like that!

Aren't all ICE engines gutless after you've been spoilt by EV torque?

Yeah I do but  still drive petrol cars  though sometimes. Do have 2 in our household and vehicles at work. No idea what engine the jogger got.3cyl turbo by the sound of it wheezing.

1.0 3 cyl turbo 109 bhp/148 lbs/ft. From what I've seen it's just about up to the job, but a 7 seater (if thats what you need)  for about £17k isn't bad I suppose. There's a 1.6 hybrid option for another £5,000 or so, I think.

Getting a Red Weather Alert for wind tomorrow and almost everything not opening including my local Gym, even the Buses are off for most of the day.

I did think it was funny tonight when everyone's phones started bleeping at the same time because the Government sent out an Alert except mine, I'm still on Android 9 and I think that is the reason. My spare phone on Android 11 did get it.

It would be because your phone has had 'emergency alerts' turned off, not the OS. I turned mine off last year when they trialed the alert system, the government can't inform me of anything I'd wish to know!
