Things I Don't Like

Just get some jungle drums. Oh no can't say that coz they'll cost you money. Any way you look at it you're screwed.

Have you considered robbing a bank or selling drugs on street corners? Good earners I believe.

I have no problem spending money on something I'll use.  I just hate wasting money on something I can't.  The point here is that I don't use the phone, except for emergencies, so a monthly outgoing is completely wasted on it.

I don't have the social skills for selling drugs unfortunately. :whistling:

Very much agree there. I only use mine when absolutely necessary.

It's not really necessary - you just have to take the cash and hand over the gear, no social niceties required. (So I'm told!😀)

Yeah but you have to be sociable enough to find buyers.

Back on topic.  It looks like my SIM has been cut off due to lack of use.  Faulty mast could be coincidental.  Will have to look further into it tomorrow, but my SIM details in phone settings no longer show the phone number or provider name.

Some of you are aware I'm not overly impressed with my new washing machine.  Think I've realised why today!

Had no idea it was a rebadged Ford!! 😮

Suppose I should've guessed it was a Titanium really.  It does have privacy glass and push button start after all.

Might be worth checking the T&Cs for your provider.

Have now had confirmation that mine was cut off due to inactivity.  However, the last text I sent was only 2 months ago.  Have seen mention of having to top up within a certain number of days so now suspecting that to be the cause, but think it must have been introduced recently, at least on my tariff.

Sneaky!

Contracts are enforceable, change should/must be mutually agreed, I have a pink accout with Natwest that they cannot remove, they've tried lol

Well, I have had the number reconnected now.  But been told 5 different things, using various forms of contact with the same provider, about the obligations I have to keep it active.

Fairly sure I'm not going to get a concrete answer now.  Also been told to contact them if it gets cut off again.  But was previously told they can only reconnect a number once.

So, as usual, can't trust the info provided by customer services.

In other news, does anyone know exactly which sensors a modern washing machine uses to determine cycle lengths?  I'm trying to understand why the 'Rapid 30' wash on my new machine actually takes 45 minutes!?  I don't dare try a longer wash in case they add another 50% time during the cycle as well.

I know long cycles use less energy as they let the clothes 'soak' for a few minutes here and there to reduce the agitation needed, but in my situation the length of time is the priority.

The allowed weight for Rapid 30 is 4.5Kg and I'm well under that.  Both cycles so far have been between 1.5-2Kg.  I have not adjusted the 30c default temp.  I did increase the spin speed on the first cycle, but left that at default for the second cycle and it didn't make any difference to time at all.  Daytime temps have been well over 20c outside so it can't take long to heat a small amount of water to 30c.  (Though I do realise it's not as warm in underground pipework).  So now I'm at a loss as to what can be increasing the cycle length so much?  Almost certain there's absolutely no point in contacting Whirlpool customer services as they'll just give me some generic BS about cycle lengths being dynamic to avoid any responsibility.  Only thing I have wondered is if maybe there's too much detergent in a 'pod' for a short wash, but I don't think there are any sensors that can detect detergent levels after the first rinse are there?

What's frustrating is that I know exactly the programme I want to use, but none of the set programmes are even close to that.

I want 60c water & detergent to do a wash phase in about 20 minutes, then a first rinse of about 10 minutes, short spin of 5 minutes, second rinse of 5 minutes, then a final fast spin of 1400rpm for 10 minutes.  All complete in under an hour.  Anyone know if I can remap a washing machine to do the programme I want?

Does the 'Rapid 30' refer to the time or the temperature? 🤔

Time.

The programmes that refer to temperature don't work properly either.  There's an 'Eco 40-60' which will only allow 40c and takes about 3 hours.  And there's an 'Intense 60-90c' which takes about 3 hours unless I press the Rapid button (totally separate to Rapid 30 programme).  However, that then only allows 40c...which is clearly not between 60-90c.

Honestly this thing could have programmed better by Fords Sync team!

I have had another thought though.  There was a thick bath towel in with both those washes.  Doesn't weigh much when dry.  But I'm wondering if the machine weighs again once everything is wet?

If the machine has an app you can tailor a programme, i can wash my duvet in mine but have to use the app so it pumps more water in my short cycles are 15/33/44 combined with any other setting including a 1600 spin

This machine does not have app connectivity.  Sadly the gap in my flat was too small to fit a standard width washer.  So I've just had to settle for another cheap Whirlpool again.  Absolutely not what I wanted and I was happy to pay more for a decent one, but that is the situation I'm trapped in unfortunately.  Had exactly the same issue with the fridge a few years ago.

There could very well be a market for washing machine 'remaps' as more and more newer appliances do less and less in the name of being green. I like to do my bit so I've a green lawn mower 🤣

Fridge Freezer needs a remap as well.  I completely understand why the auto-defrost needs to occur, and roughly when it needs to occur.  But still cannot understand why it's not programmed to work around the fridge temps.  There just needs to be a simple 'chill fridge to below 5c before starting' but it doesn't do that.  So the fridge is often 8-10c for 1-2 hours every 48 hours.

I have tried turning the single temp dial down, but then the fridge started icing up during normal use, so this is the best compromise.

My old Electrolux fridge/freezer bought in 1985, had a separate temperature dial for the fridge, and one for the freezer - simpler times!

Decent brands do now.  But as with the washer, I'm stuck with the only cheap rubbish that fits the gap here.

I dont think my posties can read english, I have a letterbox with a red DO NOT post unassigned or crap yet they continue to do so, strongly worded email to the local postmaster. Am on one today.

Problem is that the poor postie has to deliver what they've been told.

His/her definition of 'crap' could be totally different from everyone else's 😀

It’s just the one form for Royal Mail.

The other links are to help you with other junk email.

I don't like job searching. Just had a interview on Monday for a pharmacy job in the hospital I currently work at and got an email today to say I was unsuccessful. Went on a visit to the department to show my expression of interest too.

Grateful at least I got my current job though am getting fed up of people who get paid more than me that like to delegate work to me and others.

Got another interview with dates TBA and thankful I'm getting interview invites.

I've got the opposite problem. Constantly getting agencies ringing, text, WhatsApp me asking if I want a  new job. Keep telling them no, and remove me from there lists but it continues. I can see why there persistent, currently 96 technician jobs within 15 miles of me.
