I think I saw them for £75 on black circles but then suddenly it wasn't there next time I checked. Maybe it went out of stock or was a different tyre.

I really need to do a more thorough measurement of my tread depths...

You must have been having some fun with yours to get down to the wear limit in 8k miles lol, had it on the track?

Yeah I've had that before, what tyres did you go for out of interest? I was debating Avon Zv5's as I've had them before and really good in the wet..

... Could pop down to the dealer and ask to use their tread tool, I was tempted to buy one but haven't looked online yet!

No track days sadly.... Just some excitable driving, Tbf its only the NSF that's low on tread as I have a preference for right hand bends :P

I'd try & book it in a few days earlier.

  • Take the car elsewhere, it doesn't have to go to Fraud to maintain the warranty, as long as they stamp the book it's valid. I wouldn't worry about resale value either, it will make no difference to d

Oil is the lifeblood of any engine - buy the best you can afford.

I managed to get through 2 front tyres in 4k , wont do that again, expensive driving that was inc fuel, 320hp through front wheels wasnt a good mix, lol

Lol for most people that would be like 6 new tyres a year or more, and I bet they were expensive tyres too. What car was that?

I went for the same Bridgestone tyres that came with the car, cos I'm only changing the fronts and hate having different tyres front and back. Might consider changing to a different tyre next time if all 4 need changing, but I've had no problems at all with these.

I think one of my tyres lost more tread too, I forget which one though. Probably NSF too as I always cane it round the same roundabout on the way home from work each day lol.

Mazda 3 mps, 260hp remapped to 320, at 260 it was a beast even with LSD diff, but when remapped was wheel spinning in third gear , lol did a lot of data logging which required flat out during to redline in 3rd or 4th for the mapping process, lots of fuel and tyre wear. Was fun though.

That makes sense then, I can see why the tyres would wear so quickly with that kind of power.

I forgot to mention, the dealer said they use Morris oil, but they can put in a different oil if I want. Does anyone know if Morris is any good? I think that's what I have at the moment cos I went there for an oil change last year, and all seems fine...

As long as the oil used matches the spec ford require then it should be ok, by spec I don't just mean the 5w20 or 5w30 etc but the oil spec number stated in the manual.

I found a lot of positive opinions of Morris oils online so it should be ok, and am I right in thinking it should be fully synthetic oil?

My 2nd year/ 25k service last week... I dropped her off at 8am, and didn't get it back until 5:15pm! I sat like a lemon for an hour, as I got fed up with waiting at home.

Morris oils are based in Shrewsbury. They are a big company that make a lot of different products/oils and I've used them for years. Your dealer should be using their fully synthetic, if so, then you're ok.

Morris multivis f 5w30 and its fully syth.

Well I've finally got around to phoning the last 2 dealers on my list. I had been quoted £165 across the board but then GK Ford offered £133.11.

My last call was the dealer I had purchased from (Geoff Cox) and I was armed with GK's price in case they said £165. Their quote was... £90!!

I nearly fell out of my chair! He said that there isn't a lot to do on the first service hence the price. He also mentioned the continuation of AA breakdown cover as was discussed in another topic on here.

Duly booked it in on the 27th.

Dirty cheap. the oil and Filter is £50 alone.

As long as it gets the book stamped I won't complain. The dealer will be having it back next April anyway as the agreement ends and its bye bye finance for me.

Good deal :). As for the AA cover, I got a letter today about that and it seems to be saying that you can only get AA cover by going to them directly, although we get a big discount. It says you get "Ford Assistance" cover by getting a service at a Ford dealer, which I assume is with a different breakdown company.

Very nice!!

Not really but I like to have some fun with the car when I can, although not many chances for that on the daily commute. How much tread do you have left on yours?

Well checked my tyres again yesterday to find near side front down to 2mm. Think this is due to shorter drive shaft putting more torque through that side?

Ordered 2 conti sport contact 5 off Asda tyres last night and had them fitted today.

First impression is they seem a less harsh ride than the Bridgestone and a little quieter.

That sounds about right considering you've had the car longer than me. I still need to measure mine properly though. How much were the Continentals? They would probably be the ones I'd go for if I didn't want to keep all 4 tyres the same.

Cheapest I found fully fitted were from black circles at £103 but to get them fitted the next day I used Asda they fit at halfords but strangely halfords had no appointment available till next week?

They are definitely better than the Bridgestone much quieter better grip and a smoother ride. My other thought was Goodyear F1's about same price but not as easy to find

So the service is happening on Thursday, and I just had a look at the air filter to see if it wants cleaning, but it still looks like new lol. That's after 8 months and just over 6000 miles, so needless to say I'm impressed with the K&N filter, I think it could probably go for a couple more years before it needs cleaning :)

My titanium got its first service today. 10,500 miles. Still got 5mm on each front and 6mm on rears.

My mileage is about 10,600 but I've used a lot more rubber. I'll get them to measure the tread for me and decide whether to wait before having the new tyres fitted, could get a few more weeks out of these.

Meant to say. Is it normal they had my wheels off on this first service? Just my locking wheel nut was out and on passenger seat when I got it back, with my service book etc.

Yes it is, they have a check list to go through, they would have checked the brake pads/discs. Should have given you a copy of the checklist.

They do a set number of checks, a service by a dealer isn't just an oil, filters and plug change like small garages or people think it is.
