laumk7
I work nights I came out of work this morning to be told by my colleagues a stranger had been taking photos of my car last night. Now I don't know if they're on the wind up or this is genuine but I now genuinely don't know what to do... Do I report it with vague details? That between 10 - 5am someone was photographing my car in my work car park (public right of way), or do I let it go? I've got a disklok in place, always used Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
MONDEO TXS 2.2
Report it to the police - it could be being lined up to steal ?
laumk7
I've phoned the police and am waiting for my works security to come in so they can go through the footage to see if it caught anything, the police have advised me to contact them when the footage comes back, but they have created an 'incident number' for it, and agree it is definitely suspicious. They said also it might be my financiers taking photos for their records, but in the middle of the night and at my work address? Sounds extremely unlikely, but I'm going to phone them if only to cross them off the list It annoys me that because I thought my colleagues were having me on, it didn't properly sink in to me to ask them further questions Sent from my iPad using Ford OC
MONDEO TXS 2.2
Get the fuse that protects the O.B.D. port removed a.s.a.p.
laumk7
Just the fuse or the port itself? Sent from my iPad using Ford OC
MONDEO TXS 2.2
I would pull the fuse & also physically secure & then move the O.B.D. port. These are the first things I did with both our cars & they are tracked too.
laumk7
I've phoned Bristol street, someone's going to get back to me about how much it'll cost to move the obd port, if possible Sent from my iPad using Ford OC

laumk7
I can help you rig it up with a bomb if you like? hacker goes into OBD and boooom! Lol I don't want to lose the car, I've called the financiers and they said it's definitely not them, but also agree it's suspicious , I'm going to give my work until about half past then I'll chase their security footage (if any) Sent from my iPad using Ford OC
MONDEO TXS 2.2
The O.B.D. port can also be temporarily '' secured '' using 2 U shaped brackets, 4 bolts & 4 nylock nuts which are time consuming to remove. There's a how to guide on ST Drivers.
laumk7
It is possible to move the O.B.D. port. I believe you, I just need to get a garage to do it for me as I wouldn't have the first clue, my trusted garage said they won't touch that sort of thing so have suggested a ford garage or a (of all people) car hifi and electrical specialist Sent from my iPad using Ford OC
FocusSmudge
I would definitely pursue it Laurie, particularly if your car is brand new. If it was during the day I'd probably let it slip, but during hours of darkness seems a bit strange. If anything ever did happen to your vehicle (fingers crossed it doesn't) the Police will at least have a log of suspicious activity around your car.

Incontro
I would also be concerned about the suspect potentially following you home, whatever their actual motive is (which is unclear at this stage). Focus on getting the CCTV footage pulled - and give a copy to the cops. If the security don't play nice, get the cops to request it. Also when leaving work, particularly if in a quiet area, keep an eye out to make sure nobody is tailing you. If you do, be certain to get a REG number. Now this may all seem paranoid, but better to be on the safe side. Hopefully it turns out to be nothing of concern, which is most often the case. laumk7
Update: I've spoken to security and my manager and unfortunately that area of the car park isn't covered by the cameras :( I'll ask my colleagues later to see if they got any further information The car is brand new, only 3 weeks old and fortunately no one followed me home this morning - it was a clear road behind me, I genuinely didn't think of that, I'll be on my toes from now on in that regard Bristol street still haven't gotten back to me Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
MONDEO TXS 2.2
All you can be at the moment is extra vigilant
FocusSmudge
Shame there's no CCTV. As Mark said; definitely a good idea to be extra vigilant for a while. If he's seen again (by you or a colleague) have them write down a registration number if he's in driving, description of person, direction of travel and time seen etc. Of course; he could've just finished work himself and was admiring your car, in which case you'll probably never see him again :)
laumk7
I always park close to my colleagues with the opinion of safety in numbers and all that, it's very well lit and I'm very surprised by its location not covered by the cctv I'm at Bristol street now to get a quote as they've asked to see the car as to what I'm talking about Where is a good place to move to obd port to? MONDEO TXS 2.2
I moved the O.B.D. port on the Fiesta ST 2 in 25 mins - no extra wiring required. Remove the O.B.D. port fuse for your peace of mind if you choose not to move it :)
