If you want a cig lighter that comes on or off with ignition I can make one for you. It will give you a socket you can tuck under the dash or wherever suits your needs. Everything from fusetap to so

  • See my guide here fitting dual camera system fed through a piggy back fuse adaptor in to fuse F100 Comes on and off with ignition, No splicing easily removed. Link: http://www.fordownersclub.com/f

  • Or if nothing else shares the cig lighter fuse, remove the fuse and then remove the other end of the wire from the cig lighter and tape it up with insulation tape and tuck it away. Now, fit your fuse

Just in case any other interested members are curious as to what the full switched power socket wiring looks like-

it works really well, Stoney makes a good job of making one, not messy at all

Your welcome stoney :)

red should never be an earth

black (and brown) are often used for earth...

maybe someone is colour blind and perhaps the product was built wrongly

Agreed, red always goes to live.
I never go by connectors added to kit at factory.
A decent selection of crimps /crimper and good wire strippers are essential.
Shrink tubing is also a good idea to stop shorting over connections.

Hi Lenny

Thanks for that , but no, not a crimping tool, a tool that does it "all in one" to save me a lot of hassle (from a newbie)

Good guide though i'll be using it to do my reverse camera 🙂

Cheers

Do you mean these Scotchlok connectors? They just pierce the insulation allowing a feed to be taken off existing wiring. I'm not keen on them myself but understand the speed and convenience.
