Luggage compartment open

Featured Replies

I have a warning message on the dash saying luggage compartment open but the boot door is fully close. The switch on the door lock is working as its turns the light on and off. Is there another switch thats operates the message on the dash

Did you ever fix this problem? I have the same problem and it happens everytime I switch on the headlights.

Got to be a short circuit if you get it when switching your lights on. the other problem could be water... simple things like water in the luggage switch can cause the switch to stop functioning. check around the tail, remove the rubber covering for the switch and see if any water falls out. Other than that, you need to manually check the switches on the boot. Get the car running on electrics, and prod and poke the switches with a screwdriver, and see if the light goes out! if it doesnt its likely a faulty switch

I have a 2012 Ford Focus Sedan. I have the Error message "Luggage Compartment Lid Open" popping up on my dash every time I put it in drive. I have to manually press the "OK" button on my steering wheel to get rid of it. On top of that, my exterior lights stay on (all around including on my side door lights) when I turn off my car, and I don't get the Beep when I lock my doors. The Lights go off eventually, but these things all seem to be connected....any ideas???

If your car thinks the luggage compartment lid (or a door) isn't closed it won't behave correctly.  As mentioned above there are a number of potential causes for this error message, once the root cause is fixed (so you no longer receive the message), the car should behave normally.

If you're comfortable working on cars/taking them apart you could try the simple things 1st such as checking for water ingress and the wiring, otherwise you'll need to have a garage take a look.
