Vinchenzo7
Hi everyone Was wondering if I replace my battery on the mk3, would I require a radio code? Thanks
alexp999
Nope, it doesn't have one.

The radio does have a code but it's linked to the car's VIN. The system checks that the two match before allowing operation. This means you don't have to re-enter the code if the battery is disconnected.
alexp999
If that was the case you wouldn't be able to swap headunits but you can. Fiesta is the same.
Kosmick9
Would it be the same on the mk2s and 2.5s ? Or do they still need a Code?
mjt
I'm only repeating what is printed in the handbook for my 2012 Mk3.

I have an aftermarket unit fitted professionally, when it was fitted, there was no mention of codes. So it should be alright for me to change battery? alexp999
If you have an aftermarket unit then it depends on the unit. I'd check the manual for it before unplugging the battery

mjt
If it was fitted professionally it might have been coded to the car.

jeebowhite
Android units do not tend to need a code.
