2011 MK3 Steering Wheel trim peeling/flaking off

Last week I notice the silver/aluminium finished coating on my MK3 Focus has started to lift away from the moulding that fits on the steering wheel (the trim that surrounds buttons on the wheel) it looks as though it will flake off soon, and as usual the peice comes as one with the airbag unit and is at least £250 plus Vat online, IF they will ship airbags. Has anyone else noticed this on their cars, or can anyone suggest a fix, I dont know if the plastic trim comes away from the airbag unit easily, or I would attempt to get it recoated....

Before it gets any worse your could wrap the whole silver trim in vinyl. You can get any colour you like or just stick with silver.

Sent from the pub with a pint in the other hand.
