eimajjjj
Hi guys, So first post and I'll happily admit I'm a complete and utter newbie when it comes to cars but I really want to make something of my new Zetec Ecoboost 1.0. Pic attached. I've had a new sound system put in, engine remapped (added 60 bhp!), red and black seats and I'm going to get it lowered with Pumspeed coils but I have some really really basic questions: Are my wheels/alloys 15 or 16 inch? Can you put any size wheel/alloy on a car or does it have to be the same size wheels they are now? Any recommendations on some good alloy choices or place to get some? What are some easy mods to make that will make a real difference aesthetically, is painting the alloys black worth it and something I can do myself? Where can I get spoiler from and is it something I can also do myself? Sorry, real basic stuff I know but anyone got a Zetect ecoboost 1.0 with mods and want to share? (not the ST line as everytime I see that it makes me wish I went for that instead!) J
GingerFlame
Who were you mapped with? Have you thought about the honeycomb grilles? LED lighting upgrade from Autobeam? Use YDET10 for 10% off You could get the ZS spoiler from Ford Or a scrapyard? Wind deflectors Triple R composites splitters Using the reg in the photo above, your wheels are 15". You can fit 16s without issues You can fit 17s but you'll need steering rack limiters from Ford and also the speedo adjusting slightly You'll regret black alloys. They look awful as soon as the tyres go even slightly grey, despite dressing them constantly. It also shows up damage and dirt. You'll also struggle to do it to a good quality yourself. Keep them silver and classy. I have a 14 plate ZS. I had an airtec intercooler. Autospecialists induction kit. Fully custom Tony Banks exhaust system with sports cat and custom backbox The exhaust is now for sale as the remapping idiots blew my engine up 5 days after the map. I've retrofitted cruise control and powerfold mirrors/ puddle lights Stay well away from AET motorsport, idiots who don't care and don't have a clue
Jonro2009
I would tint the 3 rear windows and fit wind deflectors. The latter is really easy and the tinting is something you can do yourself if you watch a few YouTube videos and take your time.Pressed reg plates look smart, so do CREE number plate bulbs. You could flyeye the rear lights to make the, look darker. As above upgrade all the bulbs. Externally use CREE in the sidelights and HID or LED aftermarket kits for dipped and main beam. If the kits are not something you want to do then consider osram night breaker laser bulbs instead. Change the indicator bulbs for the Phillips silver ones too. Internally change all the courtesy/map/glovebox/boot lights for LED Bulbs. Also change the aerial for one of the little stubby ones.Painting the alloys black would really look bad IMO for exactly the reasons @GingerFlame has given. You would have to know exactly what you were doing and use the right materials and paints. If you are happy with the size and design of the wheels and really want to change the colour then consider hydrodipping, in the grand scheme of things it's pretty inexpensive. TBH black alloys would not suit the car, a nice kind of anthracite would look good though. If you are lowering the car you may find the 15s look better than they do now so don't make any decisions yet. I thought you could get 17s on without limiters but may be wrong, or it may be that you need the arches rolled. I recently learnt about gel overlay badges which look pretty smart, youncould get a nice black oval with red lettering.A set of mud flaps can set the car off nicely too. 60bhp is some jump! What stage are you running? Finally, make sure you declare every single mod to your insurance company otherwise you will find your cover is not valid.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
GingerFlame
Revo stage 1 takes the 100 & 125ps versions to around 165 bhp :) . It's a big jump but the 1.0s are happy to take it (usually) Arches are fine, steering limiters are fitted on 17" cars from the factory including mine so I'd guess they're there for a reason As for flyeye personally I think it's one of the worst things you can do to a car. Simply because if the damage I've seen it cause on customers and friends cars. It doesn't look great up close either Just read all the specification on ETIS and I also noticed tinted windows was missing. Didn't look at the above photo except for the grills and reg :p Mine are tinted and I think it looks much better
Jonro2009
I did wonder about the remap, I knew the 100&125 engines are the same with a different map. Where do the 140s fit in?I didn't realise the limiters were fitted in the factory for cars leaving with 17s.I used spivision on my last car, I think I did a pretty good job. It looked decent close up and from a distance. I never intended to remove it so if the lenses were damage underneath I wasn't concerned [emoji3]Tints make a world of differenceSent from my iPad using Tapatalk
GingerFlame
The 140 has a slightly different turbo Thicker head gasket so long story short can safely hold boost longer And a shorter ratio gearbox So slightly higher mapping capabilities but still limited by the turbo, then the fact that the block is too small to dissipate heat efficiently :)
NQbbe
My dealership mentioned the limiters for 17", however they told me their customers never wanted them and they've never had problems. So I went without limiters on both my ZS and Black Edition - neither of them rubbed or had any problems with the 17" wheels (205/40/17 tyres) The major restraint in tuning the 1.0 is actually the gearbox - it's only approved for 170nm of torque, which the engine already exceeds on overboost (125 and 140 only) You'll easily find lots of stories about broken synchromeshes due to remaps. GingerFlame
I was running 220nm of torque with no problems at all and if you speak to alot of companies their magic number for absolute maximum torque they recommend is 200ftlb. This is 271nm. It's also how smooth the curve Is. If it's a nice steady curve then it'll be easier on the gearbox than 50nm to BAM 250+ in a flash If you hammer the gearbox off The line and abuse it everywhere then yeah it's gonna die on you. Have a bit of mechanical sympathy and you'll be fine :) . After all, the gearboxes are made of chocolate :p. Just drive them nicely Yiull also find alot of stories about gearbox failure before 10k miles on standard cars! Bad really
eimajjjj
blimey, theres a LOT of info there I dont really have a clue about. Remap is with celtic tuning and yes, apparently the engine is the same as the 126 so they can get a lot more out of it, havent actually had it done yet, but getting it done next week. Dont like the sound of "broken synchromeshes" whatever that means? is this a bad choice? Regarding wheels, that photo isnt my car but exactly the same model, how did you find out the size from the reg. no. which website? Also, any links for some of the stuff you guys recommended i.e. grill, spoiler, flaps, lights, splitter etc? I know I'm being lazy, would rather just go into a garage and say, here a 1k, make it look damn good. Like the attached photo would be nice, those MT-1 alloys look great... GingerFlame
All the info using your reg is Ford Etis Grill - Ford ZS honeycombe Spoiler - Ford ZS Lights - AutoBeam UK - YDET10 10% off Splitters - triple R composites People have ran similar wheels to those on our shape fiesta and I don't like them. They're better on more square shaped older cars.

eimajjjj
So since this post I've had the engine remapped to 160 and wow, I can feel it. I've scuffed the hell out of my original alloys so decded to go to wheelbase and get some nice 16s along with elbach lowering springs from pumaspeed. A simple question. Am I Mk 7 or Mk 7.5 Mk 7.5 is Zetec S and Zetec ST right? And Mk 7 just the Zetec ecoboost 1.0? Also, can I put splitter on if I lower the car? Also having a hard time finding a nice grille to fit, want a honeycombe one and the only spoiler I can find on eBay seems to be Mk.6? I've ordered the whole premium light kit from Autobeam including LED indicators. Last question, is there any point in getting an induction kit now ive had the engine remapped to 160? I mean it cant get any faster right? Will just give it a bit of noise? You know what, I'm tempted to just walk into Pumaspeed and say heres 2k, do what you can to make it look and sound as great as you can! Lazy but saves time!

Connor abbot
Hi all I have a Ford Fiesta ecoboost 140 red edition. Have been looking at the bluefin super chips to give my car an extra 37 brake. What are people’s views on doing more like this to the little engines seeing as they are known to blowing up? I’ve had Bluefin on my 125PS for 2 years with no problems. Make sure you change the oil on schedule with the correct oil, and check the coolant system regularly and you should have no problems. You can install an OBD gauge and a coolant loss alarm for more accurate monitoring if you want some extra piece of mind.

My car is so much faster and great for over taking on motorways etc. Only downside is the cost as you need a full aftermarket exhaust , turbo intercooler pipes etc. I use my car for work and have done just over 56k now with no issues to report.
