Mk7 rear brake shoe replacement

Google and you tube isn't bringing me any joy so I'm wondering if anyone knows of any guides on replacing the rear shoes could you link me up please.

I bet the set up is the same as most modernish Fords! Most rear drum brakes are very similar and pretty easy to change.

Though you might need a big socket to remove the centre nut to get the drum off.

on my mk6.5 fiesta you do not undo the big hub nut, you go around the back of the brake plate and undo the four big bolts that hold the stub axle on. you then remove the drum and the stub axle as one unit. this means no messing about with the actual wheel bearings themselves.  you need to remove the abs sensor first (one bolt). I had to get in there because the auto rear brake adjusters were not adjusting up themselves and needed moving manually. I cleared out all the dust at same time. the shoes were about half worn.  they were the original shoes and had done about 140k miles . 

I do not know if mk7 is the same but I would be surprised if it were not.

The way I did it is the proper way, it is not some improvised thing I thought up myself. I believe ford say you should replace the four bolts with new ones.

Even on my 1998 Ford Escort this was the 'correct' way to do it.

mk7 is easier than older mk, just 2 torx screws hold drum on, then unhook the retainers and springs off shoes

are you saying the drum is separate from the hub/bearings on the mk7? I have a mk7.5 but have never (yet) had cause to take a wheel off

I know this is an old thread saves making a new one,  I think I need my rears done, break shoes replaced, I get a little bit of roll when the hand break is on plus for piece of mind I know there all done and out the way, just wondering how much it would cost to do them, looked to do them myself but the springs a clip bits are putting me off

Very easy to do yourself and will only cost for the shoes (£10-15 I think)

Take wheel off, take 2 torx bots out, pull off drum (this might be stuck and need prying off), take a picture of how the springs etc go just in case, replace and put back together

I just took it to a garage cost me £89, I dont want to try to do some of these things then mess it up and be stuck
