sonofrob
hello just joined this site,,,i have a ford focus estate 2010 1.6 diesel zetec which I have just bought recently,,,i took the car for some new tyres the other day and the lad at the tyre place after only jacking the car up outside in one of the bays with a trolley jack to replace the two rear tyres told me both my rear and front tracking was out,,,now I knew the front was out as it vibrates a bit and has slight uneven wear on the tyres,,,but the back??? I wasn't aware cars had tracking on the back??? so my question is to any of you lads who know what you are talking about would be,,,is there adjustable tracking on my model ford??? or was he just looking for an extra 25 quid for nothing??? TomsFocus
Yes, the rear toe angle is adjustable on the Focus, and a lot of modern cars. I'd be surprised if he could tell it was out without checking it though, unless you've got some pretty major uneven tyre wear at the back? Mine was checked recently, and is still within tolerance after 10 years. If you've had any rear suspension components changed or currently worn it could be out of tolerance.
sonofrob
i didn't notice any uneven wear on the rear tyres myself and it wasn't mentioned on the last m.o.t,,,they looked almost new until you looked very close and noticed they had gone rotten,,,cracks etc,,,the front tyres had been mentioned on the last m.o.t as being unevenly worn and theres a bit vibrating so I guess the front tracking definitely needs doing next time I'm in......
