Ford Cougar

Featured Replies

Hi.

Ive had my Ford Escort 1.6 (N Reg) for quite a while now, and with my Ford Capri in the garage as my project (which could take a very long time) i was considering trading my Escort in against a Cougar.

Some of the appealing things about it is its basically a 2 door Mondeo (which is always a good start). So it should be reliable and also wont cost a fortune to run, or insure either, about the same as a Mondeo. But it has that coupe style car, with interesting head turning looks, without having to pay BMW Money (thank christ for that as i really dont like BMW's lol) and above all, its got the blue oval on it.

I was looking for the 2.0litre model, but the 2.5 V6 does sound very tempting.

Thoughts?

Cougar is nice looking.

I would compare the insurance first on a FC basis, then research running expenses and tax costs. It is going to be a lot more to run than the escort.

Worth it though if you have the funds.

What year cougar are you looking at?

Yeah i do have the funds and ive run through some insurance quotes and one for the 2.0litre one is very reasonable i'll take that. A bit more for the V6 but thats understandable. Parkers says the 2.0litre one does 33mpg.

Im looking at one at about 1999/2000 ish. As it just avoids Mr Browns new VED banding by it being pre 2001.

Yeah sounds like a good choice the cougars are one of the best cars on the road just now.

yeh really nice cars. Can we get a picture on here of the 1999/2000 ish one so we know better wat were talking about? Many thanks Phil

Why am I being stalked by this fordpower creep? But good idea, pics would help.

Are you always so stupid or is today a special occasion?

Special occasion. Sadly for you, you will always be ugly

Pardon me, but you've obviously mistaken me for someone who gives a damn.
