The Badger
hey i need to replace my clutch and im wondering what i actually need to get to do it all properly have been searching the net and all i keep getting is rubbish so if anyone could help on what parts i need to get to replace the whole thing that would be great thanks You will need: 2 x car ramps socket set spanners torque wrench 2 x trolley jacks or 1 x trolley jack and an engine hoist (or a long piece of 2x2 and some decent rope) clutch alignment tool full clutch kit (clutch cover, clutch plate and release bearing) assistant 2 x wheel chocks or 2 x bricks smaller piece of 2x4, this is to put on the jack to hold the gearbox I have just changed mine, 1.6 zetec, and it is quite a simple job. You will need to remove the drive shafts from the box, these should just "pop" out jack the engine up until the weight is just taken off the mounts i found it easiest to just remove the gearbox mounts instead of leaving them on the car and seperating them from the box once all mounts are undone, but still on, jack the gearbox up, again so the weight is just taken off the mounts remove the starter motor remove all the bellhousing bolts the box should now be completely free and should spin on its axis, not through 360 degrees though then its a matter of just man handling the box out remove the 6 clutch bolts remove clutch build new clutch, (clutch plates and cover) off the vehicle using clutch alignment tool once aligned re-fit clutch on to corresponding dowels re-fit bolts and torque to specified settings, I shall get these later for you remove release bearing re-fit new release bearing re-fit box and drive shafts and all bolts Hope this helps If you get stuck with anything just give me a shout Clutch kit about £60.00 from euro car parts Regards James
