Selling Up Mk7 - Whos Done It? Good Price Or Not?

Hey All,

I'm considering selling up the MK7. Right now I paid a low price for it (bought Jan 09, delivered April 09). I took it on Ford Options over 3 years and put a reasonable deposit down.

Question is, has anyone got a good buy back price from a Ford Dealer? I obviously know its less than what I bought it for, however do they play the game of just trying to clear the finance? Or will they actually give you money back?

I've checked on webuyanycar.com and they're offering me ~£1K+ more than I actually owe which isn't bad, just wondered if it's worth going to see a dealer or not?

Cheers

Rob

i dont get it if you take it out of ford options do you not have to keep the car for the full 3 years and then you have the choice or paying the what every they told you mine was like £4000, give it back and use the extra that it is worth for a deposit of a new car, or give it back and walk away. i didnt know you could sell it half way through the 3 years?

Yep, it's a standard finance agreement, you still pay interest on the £4k or whatever they offset, you're allowed to settle early and leave providing you pay up. I just wonder if they'd take all the money out of the car - or actually give me something back.

If you want out of Options and your payments put you in positive equity then you can do it. Even without that you could pay the difference and walk away.

Just really wondering what approach a Ford Dealer might have. I dont think there's much use selling private either because it's a bit too new.

Look on parkers.co.uk they give you rough guidelines on what to expect. Thats what i did when i bought mine 2nd hand. If its any help for you to compare i bought my zs which had 6000 on the clock and came with usb bluetooth, mettalic paint, parking sensors, boot matt, carpets and scuff plates and street pack for £9500. Maybe it will give you a rough idea for a trade in price.

From my experience lately with garages and trying to sell my bike i wouldn't think twice before biding my time and waiting for a private sale mate. Depends if your after a quick sale or some cashback?

Webuyanycar or Ford will give you rock bottom price for it. Sell privately and you could probably get near to what you paid for it. I had a look on Autotrader the other day and I couldn't find a Tit with the same spec as mine and same year, 2nd hand, cheaper than what I paid for it. In fact I stopped looking past £11,500 (£500 more than I paid).

Not bad depreciation that, 1 years free motoring almost.
