Hi all,

I bought my Focus in Feb so not had to use my A/c until the recent weather change, however it doesn't work. When I press the A/c button it stay on constant for about 5 seconds then starts to flash. The Fan starts but the Compressor does not. The real Kicker is when I turn the Heated Rear window on it turns off the whole system.

the aircon flashing means the system is low and needing recharged hence why the compressor isnt kicking in the system will be switching off too prevent damage to the compressor getting it regassed should solve the issue though its not advisable to have it so low for so long as it can cause expensive damage so leave it switched off till you get it regassed only then will you find out if its okay

to add to that, with aircon you either use it or loose it. the system needs to be run for a short period of time every now and then to keep the seals lubricated and that in turn will keep the gas in!

even if you dont need too, i would say maybe 20 mins every week of using the aircon should be enough?

Thanks will get it checked and charged, but any idea to the reason of the rear heated window turning the system off? thinking possibly and earth fault somewhere?
