Step 1...Don't panic, its not that difficult.

Step 2...Working on the inside of the door, remove the plastic door mirror cover using a flat screwdriver or something similar. Its held on in 3 places but not difficult to remove.Unscrew the 2 crosshead screws from the front of the door card to allow access to wiring later.

Step 3...With the cover removed you should now see an electrical connector mounted to the door on a sponge section.Gently lever the whole connector off the door with the flat s/driver keeping the 2 locating lugs intact.

Step 4....Follow the wiring down the right hand side to the door itself and remove the split rubber grommet. You may have to move the door card a little to free things up a little.

Step 5...,Feel around the foam/sponge section where the connector was to find the hidden round hole which conceals the mirror fixing bolt.Remove sponge from the hole to gain access to the single 10mm bolt securing the mirror and remove it.WARNING!! the mirror will fall on the floor once the bolt is removed.Have someone assist for this part but you can manage on your own.

JOB DONE

Fitting the new one is a straight reversal of the removal.

apparently thats how u fit it

£66.45!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Christ thats expensive!!

I had this a few years ago with an Escort van. Had a wing mirror knocked off (my stupid fault, was backlaning and hit a bridge at 50mph, got air landed on the radiator, bounced, got the mirror taken off by a road sign. Rad only got bent back so mirror was only damage) and had a quote of £60 for replacement mirror.

So went to the local motor factors and picked up a set of M3 style mirrors with baseplates for £25. Had a mate spray them white to match the van for a £5 and job done.

Nicer mirrors and a SET for less than half the price of 1 replacement standard mirror.

And i have used those mirrors on another 2 vans i have had and may re-spray them to go on my ghia!!

  • 2 months later...

My missus got new lenses and therefore started driving much nearer to the nearside, leading to smash!

Called my local ford dealer and asked how much it would cost and I was quoted . . wait for it . . . . £180 (£100 for the mirror and the rest for labour). Get F***ed I said under my breath.

A little browsing on the internet led me to www.wingmirrorman.co.uk

They had all kinds of mirrors, manuals, electric and ones that had been primed so that you could paint them to match the body colour.

£46 out of my account and into theirs and my mirror arrived about 4 days later, well packed and in top condition.

The mirror replacement is easy.

On the inside of the door where the frame slopes down is a plastic panel, on the opposite side of the mirror. This snaps off to reveal a set of wires that clip into a connector. There is also a bolt that holds the entire mirror on.

The connector has a bit (a ratchet tooth) on it that needs to be pressed in to release the wire to the mirror. Once this is done the connectors come apart. The car bit of this connector is stuck on the car, dont remove it. I dont think you are supposed to.

There are 2 push fasteners that need to be pushed through. Dont worry too much about snapping them, you dont need them.

Then using a 10 spanner remove the bolt hodlind the mirror on. Hold the mirror or it wil drop down your paintwork and scratch the car.

Connect the new mirrror connector to the car and make sure it works.

Now reverse it with the new mirror and it should be back to normal.

Happy replacin.

I also hate citroens. I have them for 2 weeks & I just can't take the stiffness of that thing.
