Dan62
hi all,im a new to the forum,i brought the mrs a little 96 fiesta,1242 cc zetec automatic ,ploblem is when i put it into drive or reverse it wants to take off ,and you realy have to put the brake on hard, its ok in park or neutral,i have a citroen picasso auto and it is nothing like it,the revs are on the numer 1 at tickover and doesent seem to be too high ,how do you turn revs down oenot help solve would that ,any help would be greatfull The engine speed is controlled by the ecu so is not adjustable, possibly the engine would stall if the rpm was lowered anyway as it sounds like the gearbox is at fault here. I like to think I'm optimistic and there's always a simple solution but for this gearbox (Ford CTX) there is little hope. I'm sure many CTX owners have lost £1000's in depreciation and repair bills over the years. My only suggestion would be to try changing the gearbox oil, but there's always the possibility it could make it worse. Final words of wisdom, don't spend ANY £ trying to fix it, its just not worth it on a 15 year old car. D.
