Key Problem

hi all i,ve just bought a 2001 fiesta for my daughter but have only got one key it,s the ordinary type red chip(no buttons).

my question is can i buy a key of eBay have it cut then programm it myself.

if this is possible does anybody know the process.

no, not unless you have 2 working keys... itll be a dealer job!

I cant remember the process off the top of my head, but in the usual ford style it involves turning the key to variuos positions in the ignition while standing on one leg... lol!

Yeah you should be able to buy some new keys, get them cut and programmed without too much of a problem. as the red one is the programming key. The process is something like stick the red tip key in the barrell, twist between pos I and II a few times, then place new key in, do that a few times, then the second key a few times...

if you can that would be great, was really hoping not to have to go to a dealers

i thought even if you had the red key, you still needed another working key... if not, i was done by a garage few years back lol!!

had to get a local locksmith to cut and code akey for me he said the car doesn't come with a red master but you need a computer to program the key.

when you have two you can then do more yourself by the turn in barrel method, charged £50 but did come to the house supply and cut the key same day and done in 10mins.

went into frauds first they told me £130 and would need to be on computer for a couple of hour and that you cant do it any other way.

went back in after having it done and told them they were thieving ,lying b*****d's don't think they were very happy with me as showroom was quite full, but hey dont lie.

haha I love telling a dealer which orifice their service should be repositioned in.

They do take the mick all too often...

I wonder how many perspective buyers lef the showroom through your presence mickmos?
