Mk 7 1.6 Tdci Titanium Fiesta - Various Problems

I put down a deposit on the above car at a main dealer Citroen garage on Sunday. It is on an 09 plate and an ex motobility car. There were a few problems with the car which the dealer has promised to sort out before collection:-

The front nearside tyre was flat when we arrived - since searching on this forum and various others I am concerned the wheel may be buckled so have asked the dealer to check all the wheels out. If they are buckled am I within my rights to get them replaced/repaired before I take posession of the vehicle?

There was a large area of condensation in the nearside headlight. The dealer said that damp in headlights was a common fault with Fords? My friend Google doesn't seem to think so? If they clean it out and the damp reappears in the next few months, am I within my rights to take it back to get it sorted (the car comes with 3 months warranty)

There was a loud buzzing sound coming from the centre of the dashboard. The dealer initially tried to make out it was the electrics shutting down....but the noise was there before the ignition was even started and was constant throughout the test drive. Have found various topics on this and other forums that lead me to think it is the climate control sensor. Some say it is just a noise that is supposed to be there and live with it....other say they have had the car sorted my main dealer. The noise was loud and would be audible over any tunes I play in the car. Should I insist this problem be sorted?

I got a call from the dealer this morning saying that they were sending it to a specialist Ford dealer to sort out it's problems. Hopefully this can only be a good thing, going to the people who know their way around a Fiesta?

Too many issues for a young car. To be honest I would have walked away, there are plenty of Fiestas out there.

Flat tyre could just be a puncture, check the tyres. If all the tyres are different brands it suggests neglect.

Wet headlights suggest the seal is leaking or damaged, as an ex-motobility car it could be a bad accident repair.

Buzzing behind the dash don't know the cause but it should not do it.

You do have the Sale of Goods Act to fall back on.

You have a right to get a refund of deposit and walk away.

Alternatively you have the right to have the vehicle checked independently (at your cost) to determine whether the wheel is buckled and any other problems (tyres must be under the legal limit to demand a replacement ie would fail an MOT unless clearly beyond life like cracked walls etc)

As far as the faults are concerned as youve pointed them out they can say you were aware of them so dont need to fix them unless theyre covered under warranty.

I have recently had a horrible situation with a Citroen where the deal was clearly too good to be true and I shouldve walked away but now I'm stuck trying to get my money back as the gearbox has failed. I will get the money back but its going to take time as the fault wasnt noticed by me when I test drove the car.

Walk away. Fiestas are one of the most common cars on the road. Fair enough that particular spec isnt too common but seriously look into it properly do research if you can buy a titanium for the price of a zetec theres something wrong.

Demand a test drive before you collect it. IF any of the faults are still there demand your deposit and walk away theres plenty more fiestas out there. I see youre in Lancashire like me so I know theres loads of Ford dealers round here. Depends how much the car is up for. There is loads around. In Ormskirk there is a 3dr 10 plate Zetec S for 8995 with 43000 miles for example.

Or try Arnold Clark any of these cars can be ordered to your nearest dealer by them and they have £600 of profit so haggle and there may be a £200-£300 sway in there depends on how much the other dealership paid I'd work off the listed price if you can afford it look into it if not then dont bother as there is sometimes nothing in it for them these are all close to/in Lancashire if you can go to the actual dealer its in then it is better the first is Warrington the Second is Leyland the third is Preston the fourth is Stafford so getting quite far but doable

My powers of deduction tell me that you are probably at Bank Top in Blackburn but I could be wrong. To me the car has far too many faults for its age I would walk away personally and go elsewhere.

Have a budget Price was £7479 reduced because dealer was fined for having it on his forecourt too long. He said the colour (squeeze) was putting folk off, perhaps they looked further into its problems. Ah well, best keep looking. Thanks.

That colour thing is rubbish I love that colour you see loads in that colour and my girlfriend is buying one in that colour next year as long as the face lift keeps it going.

Was it Lookers? Theyre a terrible company when I worked at Arnold Clark I dealt with them a couple times and they were a horrible company.

Now I know what youre working with I will find you a car in the next 10 minutes thats worth looking at. I wont find many on an 09 you might need to get a 58 but Id rather have a good 58 plate than a bad 09.

that might be your car. 09 Plate Zetec under budget in Preston youd get that for probably 7200 if you bargain (and are paying cash?) Little over average mileage but not much as its getting close to 4 years old. In your budget Id say go in and say "I have 7500 or whatever I want THAT Fiesta with a 2 year Arnold Clark autocare warranty" theyll bite your hand off trust me (I used to work for them they have 1000 in every car and will take up to £500 off for cash if its been there more than 2 weeks.)

Do not go and enquire at Blackpool first as if they set up a deal (quote) then Preston wont want to touch it if you go.

Finance you wont get much off but you might get enough to cover the arrangement fee.

I have a '59 TDCI Titty. Remember 09 is now 3+ years old so will have some age and wear and tear issues. Bit dumb of a dealer displaying a car with a flat tyre. Festers do suffer from plasticine wheels, would have to be very bad to casue a flat though?

Never seen or heard of water in headlamps, get them to fix or replace.

Buzzing from center console known issue, mine does it. Apprently its an electronic temp sensor rattling against the trim, echoing in the space. You can also hear the flaps moving when shutting down and the engine bay A/C fan running on if A/C is on. None of these are too loud in mine and def not loud enough to drown out the stereo.

Bizarre, I actually looked at that car in Preston on Saturday. Was tempted to make him an offer but as it was the first one I had looked at I thought I was a bit hasty and walked away. The next day found the titanium for the same price and half the mileage so went for a look. Yes, it is lookers.

She will change her mind by then anyway she wanted a mini 3 months ago she will want a 208 by then probably!

Simple answer, if you're not happy with what you're seeing walk away and find a car that's good to go.

There's plenty of excellent cars available with low mileage and in mint condition for the budget you're working to.

Also don't be afraid to haggle and look for extras, car sellers will cite your hand off for your money-

Buzzing is the internal temp sensing fan for auto climate control. Mine buzzed when the ignition was off when I first got the car. A software update from my Ford dealer fixed it for good.
