mkeywood
Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I have a 2003 Fiesta Zetec and for some reason the rear drivers side door will not open. Both the inside and outside handles move freely, almost as if they have become detached from the locking mechanism itself. Any ideas on what I can do to fix it, please? All help very much appreciated. Cheers Martin
Mike77
Only thing to do is remove the door card to inspect the cable and see if it has indeed come off.
mkeywood
Thanks Mike77. Is removing the door card a simple thing? Any instructions/guides available at all? Can it be done with the door locked shut in place? Sorry for all the questions :) Thanks a lot. Martin
stef123
I had to do this on a Vw about a year ago, it's a bit of a nightmare trying to remove a door card on a closed door and might need to be broken off depending on where the fixings are. Once that's out the way you will probably need to fight with the window mechanism to get at the lock motor or cable. On the one I done it was the motor - completely dead. The garage had quoted the guy a minimum of £200 to sort. Basically I had to use a hammer and long screwdriver to pop the latch - not entirely simple! Good luck with it
mkeywood
Thanks, yeah I have been googling how to take the door panel off so let's see what that brings :) Cheers
