Tom549
Just had my two rear sets of pads changed on my 03 Focus and i came to drive it and the brakes pedal went down a long way before any effective breaking. If i "pumped" the pedal 2/3 times it would become more firm/responsive but if i let it sit for a few seconds it would settle back down to being soft and unresponsive again. Any ideas? Nighthawk
It sounds like the pads readjusting after the callipers have been opened to fit the new pads but it shouldn't take more than a few pumps. If it is still doing it then it could need bleeding and check the fluid level. Sent from my HUAWEI P2 using Ford OC mobile app

Nighthawk
Then I would say it sounds like air in the system. If you had the pads fitted by a garage then they should bleed it for you if they caused it.
