ChrisCooper
I've got a Focus 2.0tdci Titanium. Since I had it I've been concerned about the front tyres looking low. I've checked the pressures though a number of times using different gauges and they are at 35psi which is a little above the recommended 33psi. Is this normal, or should I try a higher pressure? The rears are at 33 and look fine.
blue flash
I run 35psi on mine with no problems.they would look a bit low due to the weight of the engine.
mixmasterlooney
If in doubt compare it to another pressure gauge. Whatever you are using may be out although that is unlikely (its normal to find each guage 1 or 2 psi out) Tyres will look a little soft time to time and this is normal, various condition will alter the tyre pressure, heat and coldness can lower or increase tyre pressure. When a vehicle is stationery the tyre foot print is larger than when the tyre is rolling therefore adding too much pressure will dramatically decrease the foot print size causing the vehicle to have less grip whilst rolling and increased braking distance this is of course very bad and will be even worse during wet conditions. 35psi iirc is almost near recommend tyre pressure for a fully loaded vehicle, drop some of that pressure your grip will increase and ride comfort will feel better, you cannot judge a tyre working pressure by looking at it. A tyre with excess pressure without extra load to compensate will cause uneven tyre wear, the Middle of the tyre will wear out faster than the outside Sent from my automated robot M1X-M4573R-700N3Y
