Slight Juddering When Slowing Down In Gear

Hi guys..

Both my Focus's seem to be doing this - Can't say its my driving technique as my other cars previously have never done this.

When in traffic or slowing down in say 3rd or 2nd gear the car seems to judder as you hit the 1k rev mark. Once dropping below this the juddering stops.

Clutch feels fine, drives fine.. no slip if put in 6th gear and floored.

Does my head in as i have to sit in at least half hour stop start traffic for work each morning and it makes me want to just coast all the time and instead keep dipping the clutch constantly rather than allowing the car to pull along in gear.

I am not sure what could be your problem, other than to hazard a guess at the clutch, but I know that our 2000 Focus 1.8 petrol (albeit an older model) does not do this and I don't know of any other cars that, in my experience, do.

If you have two Focuses that do it though it may well be normal.

this is rather a feature on fords. They all seem to do it, just slowly increase the revs when sitting still and you feel the same thing (in neutral that is) its a pain but I think its due to a poor design.

Could it be an engine mount on its way out possibly, Mine does it too find my self dipping the clutch when slowly down in gear as it kind of rocks a bit

Either engine and / or gearbox mounts? as long as its not the DMF then it should be fine!
