Gary D
Having some problems with my mondeo. It's the 2.2 turbo and when plug in, it's telling me EGR fault. Striped it down and cleaned it. Put 12v's across it and the motor is working fine and winding the piston is to allow the exhaust gases to pass. Cleaned and made sure no water in the cover. Took off and started and the gases are flowing out the exhaust, if I cover it the intercooler pipe pressure seems good enough. Think it is time to put a blanking piece between the exhaust peice and valve and if I do this does it need remapped? Know the EGR valves are bad for going but this one is still moving freely with power. Regards Gary. jeebowhite
Hi Gary, Not necessarily in need of a remap. You may find the EML comes on, but see how it drives with the plate on. You can remove and remap as necessary, but for now its not essential.
Gary D
Cheers. Ended up making a plate at work and everything seems fine now. Feels like it has power again but just found it weird with it getting power and the piston moving and sealing, the motor must be weak. ZeEscort
Maybe not related, but I had issues with my EGR showing as faulty but I've replaced the battery and the fault is gone.
jeebowhite
That's more so an issue if the disconnected battery reset the error code until it next happens rather than fixed it.
Gary D
Strike that was ok for around half an hour. Back to the same now, does any one know what the 5 wires are for? Commen earth, positive to work the motor. The other 3 are unknown? Mk6 escort, mk2 focus and 07 mondeo st using Ford OC
shaunytee1600
I thought I'd show one from my tdci focus. Power is nothing without control .

Miki13
It is related. When the battery voltage is low 12.2V which drops to around 11V or lower at starting the CAN bus not so stable any more and comes back with some silly fault codes. This is why battery replacement helped.
Gary D
Battiery voltage when running is fine. 12.4 when off. Car won't rev up quickly. Mk6 escort, mk2 focus and 07 mondeo st using Ford OC
Simon whirlwind
I have recently blanked off my EGR valve with a stainless steel plate. The management light has not come on yet, but the engine seems to lack power now. Before I blanked it off I cleaned the EGR and seemed to work okay. I also cleaned the Turbo out with cleaner. Replaced the Actuator as it was faulty. The loss of pulling power especially going up long hills is now getting me down somewhat. The fuel consumption seems okay though, around 55 mpg on a good motorway run. Any ideas ??????
jeebowhite
Pull the plate out and tackle the same inclines, check if it's any better if not then you are looking at something like an air leak at a guess
