Dazbo85
Hi I've had this leak for a few weeks now and I begrudge taking it to a garage. So my question is there common places for leaks to look at first or do you think am looking for a needle in a haystack Cheers Focus C-Max 2004 1.6 TDCI Zetec
stef123
A fluid leak should be easy to spot, you will need to check all joints, flexi hoses, calipers and also around the gearbox.

Dazbo85
I've had a snoop it seem to be around the gear box. Could it be leaking from the clutch? Focus C-Max 2004 1.6 TDCI Zetec
stef123
Yes, it may well be from the slave cylinder I'm afraid. I'm doing a clutch tomorow on a focus for this very reason

stef123
It's a gearbox off job to replace it I'm afraid.

stef123
I would think the cmax is the same as the normal focus mechanically, so a few hours labor plus parts
theredfox
what price for parts paul
stef123
Sachs flywheel and bolts = £242 Clutch kit and slave cylinder = £140 Gearbox oil = £30 Hub/driveshaft retaining bolts = £15?? Ball joint nuts = £2? (optional but recommended IMO); Gearbox seals £10 If you buy the clutch, flywheel and slave cylinder from car parts for less in 2 separate orders you can knock £30 off the price. You should also be replacing the nuts on the ball joist as they are meant to be a one use item. Many probably don't though. The hub/driveshaft retaining bolts are a stretch type so again should only be used once
