NatashaB1978
Hi all, I'm new here and have posted my hello's in the newbie bit. I have a question as no one seems to know the answer to this, I have owned a mark 6 ford Escort Mexico since 2004, but no one appears to have ever seen one. Getting parts is a nightmare as everything is always slightly different, but a lorry decided to re- decorate the passenger side last month while it was parked outside where I live, I wasn't impressed to say the least as over the last two years I have spent over £600 on the car, so the insurance company write it off as they come back with a quote of over £2.7 k to fix it! Maybe they were going to respray the entire car for me... Anyway when she looks better I will post a photo, but I've never seen another one in the 10 years I've owned this motor and I don't want to part with it if I can seeing as how the parts bloke was arguing with my dad that it didn't exist until he told him the Reg and he found it on his system. So does anyone know anything about them? As I googled it and there is nothing, I just wanted to know how many were made and still alive as they seem to be dying out now. MattDRX
I can't paste into this site, but google howmanyleft.co.uk there are only a handful of Mexicos of the later Scorts left on the roads, MK6's being like the last is probably minimal on the road let alone Sorn'd
AdeMk1
Yeah they are like rocking horse poo, not seen many around. Keep hold of it if you can.
btmaldon
I don't know why they should be so difficult to get parts for as it was essentially just a 1.6 SI with a badge, white dials and stripy seats
AdeMk1
That's true yes, shouldn't be a problem getting parts but the model is quite rare none the less. Body parts might be tricky to find new. What does it need to back on the road?
NatashaB1978
Hello guys, Thanks for the feedback, I can get parts for it from a place I used to work, but sometimes it's all hell to match up, for example I had an LUK clutch fitted last year as I still had the original clutch in the car when it was made. And trying to match the thrust bearing up was a nightmare for the garage, and my mate who works at the part's company, I got moaned at that it took about 2 hours to sort out which I thought was highly amusing. She is now back on the road, looking a bit tatty until the summer when we can sort the body work out and I can find out how much a respray is or a blow over as its Ash Black and paint matching is just not happening. We couldn't get the proper door lock for it so we have blocked it off for now, and trying to explain to people on eBay about the door handle is giving me headache! They keep sending me one for a fiesta when I clearly told them it's not the same. So if anyone has any ideas of where to get either rather than going to ford would be great, the door handle is a hook mechanism and not a loop with a hole in it. I'll post a few pics. So I was gutted when I saw this from the lorry, almost cried! But seeing as how they are a rarity these days I want to keep her for a bit longer. Have a great weekend all. Natasha.
