* Ford Sync Txt Msg Problem

Hi

I've got a problem with SYNC reading my txt messages when they arrive and I've searched the for similar posts and so far, I've not found the answer.

My iPhone 5S was able to announce and read txt messages when they arrived but I've just connected and paired my iPhone 6 plus and when I go into settings/SYNC, I get a message saying something similar to, "the selected phone is not compatible to read txt msg via bluetooth".

From my iPhone/Bluetooth/My Devices/SYNC, I've selected 'show notifications' and on the car in SYNC MEDIA (or similar), also selected similar but I get the message as shown in the first paragraph.

I think that I have enabled the options necessary on both the car and my iPhone 6+ but no luck so, I'm not really sure what's going on but SYNC txt reading on my iPhone 5S (with iOS7) worked fine so why does it not work with my 6+ with iOS8?

Can any members run through the exact steps/settings, both on the iPhone 6 and my Fiesta, that I need to enable to get txt reading working.

Any help appreciated.

Simply put the car isn't compatible with new IOS, car needs updating but as usual in Europe we cannot do this but the yanks can.

Hi Matt

Update: Sorry, I misread your reply so, it is iOS 8 that's not compatible?

Are you saying that the iPhone 6 is not compatible with SYNC? Do you know that for sure?

It's still an iPhone so why not?

Or is it iOS 8 that's not compatible?

As stated I had an iPhone 5S with iOS 7 and SYNC worked perfectly. I did upgrade to iOS 8 but, due to not using the car because of a back injury, I never tried using SYNC in the car.

I'm now using an iPhone 6 and paired it today and I've not tried making/receiving calls yet but when setting up text messages in the car, I get the error msg as described in my first post.

My 5S works fine with the latest IOS8.1.1 so it can't be that mate, have you tried deleting your old iPhone from sync and then adding your new iPhone and downloading contacts

Hi Dave

Sorry, I forgot to state at the start of this thread, I deleted my previous iPhone 5S from my cars system and then set my bluetooth on my new iPhone 6+ to search and it found SYNC and I then got a code to enter in my iPhone and after doing that, pairing was successful.

I then went into SYNC settings on my iPhone 6+ and got the error msg displayed at the start of the thread.

iOS 8 & 8.1 appears to be a problem, (at least on the 6/6+) for lots of iPhone 6 users when trying to connect to SYNC, making/receiving calls or getting text messages to be read out but, I'll try again tomorrow. I did read on another website that you should turn the cars engine off and lock the car, then start it up again and then go into SYNC settings?
